Obama grants CDC whistleblower immunity for exposing vaccine-autism link

(NaturalNews) Over one year ago, the federal government granted immunity to CDC whistleblower, Dr. William Thompson. Thompson was a senior epidemiologist for the CDC who co-authored and published research on the MMR vaccine back in 2004. In the summer of 2014, Thompson came forward and revealed data linking the MMR vaccine to autism – data that had previously been concealed by the agency.

In 2014, Natural News featured a letter from Dr. Thompson to the then-director of the CDC, Dr. Julie Gerberding, dated February 2004. In the letter, he expressed his concerns about how the CDC was concealing information linking the MMR vaccine to autism. Dr. Gerberding is no longer director of the CDC; she now holds the position of executive vice president for the pharmaceutical giant Merck. Surely, no conflict of interest there, even though Merck is the sole manufacturer of the MMR vaccine.

Recently, Representative Bill Posey submitted the statements from Dr. Thompson regarding the CDC's MMR vaccine and fraudulent behavior into the Congressional record. One would think that this would have made headlines across the web, but it has largely been swept under the rug. After all, the mainstream media wouldn't dare to disrupt their own false realities.

The data concealed by Dr. Thompson and his colleagues showcased a statistically significant correlation between the MMR vaccine and autism in African American boys. In his own statement, Thompson says, "Sometime soon after the meeting, we decided to exclude reporting any race effects, the co-authors scheduled a meeting to destroy documents related to the study. The remaining four co-authors all met and brought a big garbage can into the meeting room and reviewed and went through all the hard copy documents that we had thought we should discard and put them in a huge garbage can."

Because Thompson knew that what they were doing was illegal, he kept hard copies of the original documents in his office and held onto all associated computer files as well. Mr. Thompson states," I believe we intentionally withheld controversial findings from the final draft of the Pediatrics paper."

Throwing evidence into a garbage can is perhaps one of the most deliberate ways one could go about withholding information – other than tossing it into an incinerator or having a bonfire with shredded documents, perhaps. And truly, they did not just withhold evidence – they were intent on having it erased completely.

In spite of Thompson's immunity and the growing controversy attached thereto, can the American people truly trust Congress to move forward with this issue? Congress has become notorious for showing Big Pharma special treatment. For instance, Health Impact News reports that in 1986 Congress passed legislation that removed all legal liability for pharmaceutical injuries and deaths resulting from vaccines. "When the lawsuits became too numerous, they blackmailed Congress by threatening to stop making vaccines unless Congress gave them total legal immunity from any harm caused by vaccines."

Today, vaccine manufacturers are still free from liability when it comes to vaccine injuries. This also means that manufacturers have virtually no incentive to try to make their products safer. Why should they care? There will be no consequences, no matter what they do. Instead of being able to sue those who have actually created the problem, families are forced to go to Vaccine Court. No, that is not some made-up conspiracy; it's how the system works. Families have to go through the federal government's National Vaccine Compensation Program if they want to at least attempt to receive some kind of financial retribution or assistance for their vaccine-injured children.

Will Congress uphold its civic duty to the American people and investigate this matter in a lawful, truth-seeking manner? Only time will tell.
