(NaturalNews) The bad news continues to increase regarding Monsanto's poisonous glyphosate-laced herbicide, Roundup. A new study has shown that Roundup causes hormonal imbalances in rats, and if it has that effect on rats, it's likely to have similar effects on humans.
The study, which was recently published in the journal
Toxicology Reports, found that Roundup acts as a "hormone hacker" – in other words, it creates "imbalances in the synthesis of steroid hormones in male rats."
Roundup kills weeds by acting as an enzyme inhibitor, stopping the production of aromatic amino acids essential to plant growth. Roundup-resistant GMO plants are altered to be unaffected by the active chemicals in the herbicide.
Monsanto says that Roundup is safe for humans, but these latest findings suggest otherwise – not to mention the fact that glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup, has also been shown to cause cancer – even in incredibly minute concentrations.
From TheNewIndianExpress.com:
Humans and most mammals do not have the enzymes for and therefore cannot synthesise these aromatic amino acids, which is why Roundup is considered to be safe and non-toxic. Recent studies, however, have suggested that Glyphosate, the primary constituent of Roundup could be a carcinogen, and could affect the development of foetus and disrupt hormonal function.
Roundup exposure at a dose as low as 10 mg per kg body weight of rats causes decrease in testosterone and corticosterone secretions.Monsanto dodges the issue
These are important findings, because they appear to corroborate the results of previous studies which found that Roundup causes adrenal problems in humans.
Not surprisingly,
Monsanto has tried to deflect any such connections. One of Monsanto's Public Affairs spokesmen robotically commented:
Unless we have a chance to study the report in detail, it would not be fair for us to comment. We will study the report in detail.Christina Sarich of NaturalSociety.com wrote:
Likely, considering Monsanto's entire department dedicated to debunking scientists who find fault with their products, the company is busy trying to eliminate the obvious connection between the study on rats and a known effect of Roundup to cause 'adrenal insufficiency' in human beings. The effects of this adrenal insufficiency can be fatal:
Adrenal insufficiency is caused by abnormally low levels of cortisol that lead to fatigue, anorexia, sweating, anxiety, shaking, nausea, heart palpitations and weight loss; chronic cases of which can be fatal, if untreated.Need more proof that Roundup is unsafe?
With all the recent revelations regarding the poison known as Roundup, isn't it time we collectively demand an outright ban of its use? Those of us who have been against GMOs from the start are now being proven right, but the chemical violence continues.
If you'd like even more proof that Roundup and glyphosate are unsafe, consider the 2014 study published in the Journal of Organic Systems, which linked ever-increasing usage of glyphosate to a massive increase in the incidence of chronic diseases in the United States:
This increase in use is contributing to the development of diseases such as diabetes, obesity, lipoprotein metabolism disorder, Alzheimer's, senile dementia, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, autism, and cancer. The report details how there is a direct correlation between the incidence of these diseases and glyphosate use.The fact that Monsanto is still in business at all, and that its executives aren't behind bars facing murder charges, is a testament to the company's multi-million dollar propaganda machine that lines the pockets of politicians and so-called scientists in exchange for lies and silence.
The tide is turning, however – Monsanto is beginning to see its agenda failing throughout the world as the populace has become aware of just how evil and dangerous the company really is. Monsanto stock is falling, they are laying off workers – let's speak out and put an end to their Frankenfood scheme once and for all.
