(NaturalNews) Sadly, the story of hunting protected animals from the Zimbabwe Hwange National Park is far from over. A new story has emerged about another doctor who illegally killed a lion with a bow and arrow back in April. The Hwange National Park is the same protected game reserve where Cecil previously lived under supposed safety from poaching.

The UK's Express reported that gynecological oncologist Jan Casimir Seski of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, was involved in an illegal hunt in April.

The Zimbabwean landowner of the National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, Headman Sibanda, was arrested and is assisting police with information surrounding the April killing.

CBS News reports that Sibanda was arrested "for breaching hunting regulations in that he hunted without a quota and permit at his Railway Farm 31 and is also the owner of Nyala Safaris which conducted the hunt."

Why, one wonders, are doctors recently over-represented in these cruel acts of violence against beautiful, majestic and borderline-endangered animals? One would think that, to be a medical doctor, a certain amount of compassion is required.

Doctor hunted other big-game animals

Seski the lion murderer directs the Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, but his blood-thirsty hobby is allegedly big-game hunting, according to safari outfitters and bow-hunting sites. Seski is pictured next to slain wildlife including the most gentle of animals such as elephants, ostriches, impalas, nyalas, kudus and hippos. Why someone would make it their hobby to kill these incredible and magnificent creatures is beyond the comprehension of most sensible and empathetic people.

Are these American hunters the real-life version of Zaroff from the story The Most Dangerous Game? People who seemingly have no morals and have become so bored with their own insignificant lives that they've decided that the most beneficial use of their time and resources is to hunt down essentially defenseless animals?

The Most Dangerous Game

Perhaps these hunters would like to feel what its like to be on the other side of the hunt. They do not seem to have any regard for the life and consciousness of the animals they hunt. If you have not read the story The Most Dangerous Game, the following excerpt will give you an idea of how the story sets the stage, and the complete thoughtlessness of the big-game hunter:

"The best sport in the world," agreed Rainsford.

"For the hunter," amended Whitney. "Not for the jaguar."

"Don't talk rot, Whitney," said Rainsford.

"You're a big game hunter, not a philosopher. Who cares how a jaguar feels?"

"Perhaps the jaguar does," observed Whitney.

"Bah! They have no understanding"

Indeed, perhaps the people who hunt for hobby, rather than survival, often believe that animals have no understanding.

Gary Kowalski eloquently describes the relationship that humans ought to have with animals, taken from The Soul of Animals:

No longer can we discount the lives of sensitive and intelligent creatures merely because they assume nonhuman form. The things that make life most precious and blest – courage and daring, conscience and compassion, imagination and originality, fantasy and play – do not belong to our kind alone.

Maybe it is arrogance that drives these big-game "hunters" to take out the mystifying animals that many of us grew up loving. Or, perhaps they are missing some compassion gene and do not see how egregious their so-called hobby is. Equally unsettling is the complete misuse of precious resources these people engage in. Rather than use their fortunate wealth to benefit or progress society, they selfishly engage in the killing of protected animals, spending a fortune to do so. The shaming of these brainless twits (Jan Casimir Seski and Walter Palmer) may not be enough to wake them up from their disillusioned narcissism, but one hopes that, when karma comes back their way, it will certainly be unpleasant.
