(NaturalNews) The ugly, hypocritical face of liberalism is once again making a mockery of the Constitution and traditional American values, this time in Seattle, where progressive thought dominates local politics and has for years.
As reported by MyNorthwest.com, local KIRO talk radio host Dori Monson wants to know why, if it is considered racist (and unconstitutional) for a white, straight business owner to refuse to serve a gay person or someone of color, is it okay for a yoga class to bar white people from attending.
According to KIRO, Rainier Beach Yoga, a business in Seattle, has a class that is called "yoga for people of color," which began in September and runs once a month. As the site further reported:
Teresa Wang, co-founder of the specialized class, said it was started by five queer people of color who came together to create a safe space for people of color who might otherwise be uncomfortable. In an email blast touting the class, organizers said it is focused on people of color and of all sexualities, ages, abilities, genders, body sizes and experience with yoga. Specifically, the email targets "lesbian, bisexual, gay, queer and trans-friendly/affirming" people, as well as those who self-identify as "African American/black/of the African Diaspora, Asian, South Asian, West Asian/Arab/Middle Eastern, Pacific Islander, First Nations/Alaskan Native/Native American/Indigenous, Cnican/Latin or Multiracial/Mixed-Race."
"I don't really know"
The email went on to state "white friends, allies and partners are respectfully asked not to attend."
And if a white male happened to show up anyway?
"Well, it's a class for people of color, so he would be coming to that class knowing that we're really clear about who we are asking to come to class, so... I'm not really sure because it hasn't happened to us," Wang said. "So I don't really know."
For his part, Monson said he doesn't have a problem with the exclusionary nature of the class, per se. Rather, his problem stems from the cold, hard fact that the class as is will be applauded by liberals for being uber-progressive, while if the opposite occurred – a yoga class
specifically for white people – those organizers (and participants) would be "vilified."
"It would be a lead story on national news," he said. "It would be blared across all the websites about the racist yoga class in Seattle. And the fact is, this yoga class is every bit as racist as a bunch of white people who say they don't want to be around somebody of color. That's why I wouldn't want to attend either one of those classes... The fact is, they are both racist."
Waiting for something that isn't going to happen
Monson said that Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson has previously told him his office would pursue litigation against any business that discriminates against a specific ethnic group. And now, Monson is ready to hold Ferguson to his word, KIRO, via MyNorthwest.com, reported.
"Now we're gonna find out if my instincts about the attorney general and about our state government [are right] — using the power of government to go after the Christian florist in the Tri-Cities who didn't want to do the gay wedding ceremony. Will they also go after the yoga studio that discriminates against people based on their skin color?" he asked.
Here at
Natural News, we're not holding our breath (at least, I'm not). Because like many of you, I already know the answer: The organizers of this class and the yoga studio where it is held are both going to get a pass, and no doubt the state attorney general will be very creative about why. He'll spout legalese and supposed precedent and anything else he can in order to avoid doing the right thing in a state where political correctness trumps the rule of law.
The pathetic, hypocritical and divisive intolerance of liberalism is a cancer that will someday kill its host – the American republic.
