(NaturalNews) Abortion is an uncomfortable subject for most Americans but the time has come, thanks to details emerging from a murder trial in Philadelphia, for the country to have a national conversation that is not about a "woman's right" or a "man's mandate" but about
life itself, and specifically, what it should mean to be born
alive in America.
This long-overdue conversation has become necessary due to allegations surrounding the gruesome nature of Dr. Kermit Gosnell's abortion practice in a metropolis that is still, though laughingly, referred to as the "city of brotherly love."
Gosnell, who is currently on trial for murdering as many as seven newborns over the course of his decades-long career, has not yet been convicted by a court for things he is accused of doing. But based on testimony thus far, if he is even guilty of
some of those things, he is clearly a sick man in a sick industry that is in dire regulatory need - and I just don't say, "We need more regulations" very easily, as my readers know.
'It would rain fetuses'
The 72-year-old Gosnell, reported
BusinessInsider, "is accused of using unfathomable abortion procedures on inner-city patients who were well into their third trimester at an unsanitary, bloody, and utterly gruesome clinic called the
Women's Medical Society." Though he's only formally accused of killing seven babies, authorities and prosecutors believe he killed hundreds more, as well as destroyed related records, a grand jury report indicates.
Some witnesses have recounted some sickening allegations and details surrounding Gosnell's practice. Ex-clinic employee Stephan Massof testified before the court that
Gosnell "snipped" the spinal cords of babies in order to kill them after they were delivered live (an unconscionable, Mengala-like act that, no doubt, would have caused
great pain to the baby).
"It would rain fetuses. Fetuses and blood all over the place," Massof testified, according to
NBC 10 Philadelphia.
The
Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Sherry West, another former clinic employee, said one newborn at the clinic was 18 to 24 inches long when it was killed. "It didn't have eyes or a mouth but it was like screeching, making this noise. It was weird. It sounded like a little alien," she testified.
And former medical assistant Adrienne Moton said she killed at least 10 live-born
babies herself, in addition to those murdered by Gosnell and other staffers.
Gosnell has been charged with killing seven newborns and a 41-year-old Nepal refugee who came to see him to get an illegal late-term
abortion. He was charged after a grand jury handed down a graphic, disturbing 281-page report detailing his case.
This model citizen and "health care provider" wasn't even licensed to practice obstetrics and gynecology, but rather made millions through the decades by illegally peddling pain medication during the day and murdering babies by night, according to the
report. He would have staff give women pills to induce labor, and then show up around 8 or 9 p.m. Often, the report noted, the women had already given birth.
According to the grand jury report, here's how he dealt with the aftermath:
When you perform late-term 'abortions' by inducing labor, you get babies. Live, breathing, squirming babies. By 24 weeks, most babies born prematurely will survive if they receive appropriate medical care. But that was not what the Women's Medical Society was about. Gosnell had a simple solution for the unwanted babies he delivered: he killed them. He didn't call it that. He called it "ensuring fetal demise." The way he ensured fetal demise was by sticking scissors into the back of the baby's neck and cutting the spinal cord. He called that "snipping."Changing the language: 'Snipping' isn't the same as stabbing in the head
The report noted that this monster "snipped" scores of babies over the decades he ran his "clinic." When the FBI finally raided this slaughterhouse, this is what they found, according to the grand jury:
There was blood on the floor. A stench of urine filled the air. A flea-infested cat was wandering through the facility, and there were cat feces on the stairs. Semi-conscious women scheduled for abortions were moaning in the waiting room or the recovery room, where they sat on dirty recliners covered with blood-stained blankets. There's more. Prosecutors and the grand jury report say Gosnell had a grotesque "collection": Rows of jars with the feet of severed fetuses, which the grand jury said defied explanation.
Gosnell, not surprisingly, says no babies were ever born alive through the years, but of course he would say that. If witness accounts are to be believed, this man is perhaps the most disturbed, vile human being in modern history. Without a doubt this beast has been enabled by a lack of regulatory control because those in charge of the debate have never met a baby they wouldn't snuff out (it's a good thing their mothers didn't feel the same way though, huh?).
If convicted, Gosnell could get the death penalty. If he does, he should be killed in the same way he killed his victims.
