Shower filters head off water contaminants

(NewsTarget) Shower filters - Zeolite, Kinetic Degradation Fluxion (KDF), Carbon or Vitamin C - filter destructive particles from shower water and remove harmful vapors in shower stalls by electrochemically charging and converting dangerous particles to harmless ones and/or by neutralizing harmful molecules. Once shower water contaminants are neutralized, people generally see an improvement in skin, hair, lungs and heart health.

Skin disorders, such as eczema or excessively dry/sensitive skin; respiratory disorders, such as asthma and other lung disorders; eye irritation; and dry, brittle hair can all be caused or exacerbated by shower water which is contaminated. Depending upon geographic location and type of water system, shower water may contain fluoride, chlorine, bacteria, arsenic, heavy metals, iron, hydrogen sulfide, VOCs, chloramines, sodium, nitrates and/or other harmful microorganisms. Different types of filters absorb different types of particles, last longer than others, and cost more or less than others.

Shower Filters with Zeolite

Micronized zeolite powder, KDF-55, American-mined virgin quartz, activated alumina, activated charcoal, and Shungite are the components that make up this powerful filtration system. Each of these medias have a very specific purpose such as removing heavy metals, bacteria and viruses with the zeolite and removing fluoride with the activated alumina. The result is softer skin, more manageable hair, and less allergies caused by "dirty" water.

Shower Filters with Kinetic Degradation Fluxion (KDF)

These filters are more expensive than the typical Carbon filters, are made from copper and zinc, and can eliminate certain heavy metals, such as lead, iron, hydrogen sulfate, mercury and chlorine. KDFs have the ability to electrochemically alter harmful particles, thus making them safe for human skin (the actual water) and lung cells (the steam from a hot shower). Another benefit of KDFs is that they prevent mold, fungus and lime from accumulating in the shower. These filters can be expensive and work well with other filtering systems in place. KDFs do not eliminate bacteria, viruses, nitrates, or fluoride.

Shower Filters with Carbon

These filters are the least expensive of all shower filters; yet, they require multiple replacements in one year. Carbon shower filters also have a tendency toward bacterial growth if not changed often. These filters work to eliminate chlorine, radon, sediment and bad tastes/odors; they do not work well on minerals, fluoride, copper, barium, nickel, arsenic, salts or sulfates.

Shower Filters with Vitamin C

This type of shower filter is used mostly in Asia; however, on the Internet, one has access to purchase these more readily, although cost may be an obstacle. A Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, block is the actual filter which the water runs through, mostly eliminating chlorine and chloramines. These filters also have a long showerhead life, lasting anywhere between six and twelve months.

For healthier skin and hair and for improved respiratory capacity, people using shower filters for health can relax, knowing that their lungs are not breathing and their skin is not "drinking" substances which have ill effects upon their health.
