 So to put all this together, here's a quick guide on how to buy pomegranate juice (or pom / blueberry juice, or pom / cherry juice, etc.)
Top choice: 100% pure pomegranate juice, made from fresh pomegranate fruits (not from concentrate), packaged in glass. These are by far the most expensive juice drinks on the market.
Good choice: 100% pure pomegranate juice, made from concentrate, packaged in plastic.
Poor choice: Juice blends containing some amount of pomegranate juice, made from concentrate, packaged in plastic.
Stupid choice: Juice drinks made with high fructose corn syrup and water, containing a small amount of actual juice, packaged in plastic. These are by far the cheapest juice drinks on the market.
Don't forget, you can also get pomegranate juice concentrates in nutritional supplements. This is equivalent to eating dried pomegranate powder, which has been heated only once (during the drying process). So it's nutritionally superior to the twice-heated pomegranate juice found in reconstituted juice products.
There are many sources for supplements containing pomegranate concentrate. The POM Wonderful company, which has made pomegranate juice for years, also introduced a supplement called POMx, which is available in their POM tea product found here.
(I don't personally recommend the POM tea products because they have added sweeteners. I'd prefer to see just the pomegranate concentrate in a tea bag, where I could add my own stevia sweetener, but unfortunately, that product doesn't exist.)
