Pomegranate and Blueberry Juice Consumer Shopping Guide

A NaturalNews PhotoTour by Mike Adams

Looking at the back of the Odwalla PomaGrand label, we can see the ingredients list:

Pomegranate juice from concentrate, wild berry extract (chokeberry, elderberry, blueberry, black currant, apple and citric acid). Contains pomegranate juice concentrate from USA and Turkey

This explains the "wild berry extract" ingredient that made me curious before: It's a combination of some really outstanding berries. Combining these in the beverage adds a significant medicinal benefit, since the number of phytonutrients in a variety of berries is always larger than the number of phytonutrients in a single berry. Black currants, for example, contain numerous anti-cancer nutraceuticals (plant nutrients); elderberry is anti-viral, chokeberry has nutrients that protect the brain and eyes from degeneration, and blueberries offer tremendous protection for the cardiovascular system.

In all, this is a very potent mix of berries and pomegranate juice. I'm actually quite impressed with the product. Just remember that the pomegranate juice is still from concentrate (it's not fresh), meaning it's not as potent as fresh juice would be.

Still, given that Odwalla is a big brand name owned by Coca-Cola, I'm pleasantly astonished to see that this drink isn't made with a bunch of low-grade ingredients. Of course, it's not organic, but it's still a quality non-organic juice product. The fact that I'm saying this means a lot because I despise the Coca-Cola company (but I don't let that interfere with an honest review of this Odwalla product).

Compared to the PepsiCo Tropicana Pure product, the Coca-Cola Odwalla product is far better. No junk juices, no deceptive claims or photos, and no deceptive labeling. If you have a choice between Odwalla and Tropicana, buy Odwalla.

Next, we'll examine an organic brand of blueberry juice to see if it's any better than non-organic...
