Student Dies on Nightclub Dance Floor after Chugging Four Red Bull DrinksBy Mike Adams, February 3, 2009 | Key concepts: Red Bull, Death and Caffeine It was bound to happen sooner or later: Somebody overdoes the caffeine-laced energy drinks and buys the farm. When this happened with ephedra, the FDA stepped in and criminalized ephedra, saying it was "unsafe at any dose" because a few overzealous weight loss consumers who took too much passed out and died. I wonder if the FDA will now ban all caffeinated drinks by applying the same logic?Caffeine, of course, is a pesticide produced by the coffee plant to kill insects that try to eat it. From a chemical point of view, caffeine is a nervous system poison, and if consumed in excessive quantities, it can in fact produce extremely dangerous side effects and even death. Was this was caused this student to die on the dance floor? We probably won't know for sure, but in no way did slamming four Red Bulls improve her chances of staying alive. Most of today's young people have grown up on junk food, chemical additives and dangerous pharmaceuticals. As a result, they begin each day with suppressed immune systems and weak nervous systems. Add a few cans of Red Bull to that mix and you have a dangerous brew that's bound to lead to disaster sooner or later. The student who died in this case, by the way, was on anti-epilepsy medication, which directly weakens the adaptability of the nervous system. She was on no recreational drugs at all, so that's not a factor in this death. So what's the answer to all this? Should nations ban Red Bull? Nope. That would be too dictatorial. Simply ban the advertising of all sodas, and the energy drink market will dry up in no time. It is the highly deceptive, manipulative advertising, after all, that keeps impressionable kids buying this junk and harming their health. Without the cool ads, Red Bull wouldn't be interesting to anybody. Ban the advertising of junk beverages and the problem solves itself. Oh yeah, what's wrong with drinking too much caffeine? Lifelong adrenal depletion, of course, which magnifies the effects of stress throughout a person's life. More caffeine consumed today equals a shorter lifespan, essentially. Click to read: |
