How to Open a Fresh Raw Coconut in 10 Seconds - the Health Ranger WayBy Mike Adams, January 28, 2009 | Key concepts: Raw foods, Young coconut and Kitchen tools We had such a huge response to the launch of the book Raw in 10 Minutes by Bryan Au (http://www.truthpublishing.com/prod...) that several people have been asking us about one of the key ingredients used in the book: The meat from fresh, raw coconuts.Never fear, NaturalNews readers. I have a simple, quick and highly effective two-step method for opening fresh raw coconuts that takes about ten seconds. Here it is: Step 1: Tightly wrap the coconut in a bath towel and place the towel on a study surface (like your floor or the sidewalk in front of your house). Step 2: Whack it firmly with a hammer. Job complete! You now have instant access to the fresh raw coconut meat. Sometimes, you gotta stop beating around the bush and just open the dang thing. Now, for purposes of safety and full disclosure (which shouldn't even be necessary, but you never know these days...), here are some commonsense safety tips on coconut-whacking 101: 1) Don't hold on to the coconut with your hand when you whack it with the hammer. You will hurt your hand. Also do not use your feet or any other body part. 2) Don't whack the coconut with a hammer on a surface that might be broken by the impact force (like a cheap countertop or ceramic dinnerware). 3) Don't leave any part of the coconut exposed or it may shatter into high-speed coco-fragments that can damage your eyes. 4) If the coconut doesn't crack when you hit it with the hammer the first time, try again but whack it harder. 5) Don't have a hammer? If you're desperate, you can swing the towel like a coco-weapon and smash it onto the ground by itself. (Do not whack the coconut against breakable objects unless you want to break them, too.) 6) Obviously, if there is still coconut water inside the coconut (it's water, not milk, people) then whacking it with a hammer will make a liquid coco-mess. Drink the coconut water FIRST, and then wrap it in a towel and whack it with a hammer. How do you drink the coconut water? Make two holes at the top of the coconut (you know, where the eyes are) and drain the coco water into a glass. Enjoy!
