Georgia Psychiatric Hospitals a Horror of Medical Abuse of Mental Patients

Have you ever seen a dark, horrifying psychiatric ward in a Hollywood movie? You know, the kind where the patients are abused by hospital workers, overdosed with medications to keep them sedated, and then dumped on the streets when the insurance money runs out? That's no Hollywood fiction: It's the way psychiatric hospitals are run in the state of Georgia.

The U.S. Justice Department launched an investigation into the state mental hospitals in 2007 and found gross violations of standard medical care (which is even rather horrifying all by itself). Patients were dying for mysterious reasons and many were being abused by hospital workers. And when an investigation was conducted by the state of Georgia, it was carried out by the very same agency that runs the hospitals (so they investigated themselves and found nothing wrong).

In all, 136 psychiatric patients died under "suspicious circumstances" from 2002 to 2006, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. That's when the feds stepped in and discovered horrifying violations of patient rights on the part of Georgia's psychiatric medical staff.

As operated today across the country, mental wards are sort of like a "Guantanamo Bay" for psychiatric patients. Abuses are commonplace, and patients are drugged out of their minds to prevent them from communicating with law enforcement authorities.

Modern psychiatry, of course, is little more than one giant horror show, with infants, children, adults and senior citizens all being drugged out of their minds by a gang of Big Pharma-funded psychiatric doctors who routinely commit crimes against human beings in the practice of their so-called "medicine."

The Feds did the right thing stepping in with Georgia's criminally-operated mental health hospitals. When will they raid all the rest of the mental health "treatment facilities" around the nation that abuse and kill patients on a regular basis?

From Ajc.com: Federal authorities will re-inspect hospitals at least twice to monitor the state’s progress, the settlement agreement says. In addition, state officials agreed to submit compliance reports in six and 12 months and then once a year. The agreement also requires the state to promptly notify the Justice Department of every patient death and to turn over investigative reports, including autopsies, in each case.... more
