Vitamin B3 Protects Against Alzheimer's

It's so rare to find a positive story on vitamin in the mainstream media these days that discovering one seems a bit like finding a lost Incan artifact in the Amazon rainforest. Nevertheless, the Journal of Neuroscience has published a study demonstrating the ability of vitamin B3 to prevent Alzheimer's disease. It was even found to boost memory and cognitive function. So why isn't vitamin B3 prescribed to people with dementia or Alzheimer's disease? Because prescription drugs are so much more profitable (even when they don't work).
From News.bbc.co.: US researchers found vitamin B3 lowered levels of a protein linked to Alzheimer's damage in mice. The Journal of Neuroscience study also showed the animals performed better at memory tests.... more
