Want to boost your risk of dying in the 30 days following surgery? Take beta-blocker drugs. In a study published in the Archives of Surgery beta-blocker drugs were found to cause a nearly 400% increase in the rate of heart attacks and death during the 30 days following any type of surgery (not just heart surgery). It's just another example of how pharmaceuticals will kill you. Note, by the way, that the mainstream media always reports the risk of death from drugs in absolute numbers while reporting the benefits of those same drugs in relative numbers. This is one way to distort the findings and make dangerous drugs seem safer and more effective than they really are.
From Boston.com: Patients who were taking drugs to lower their blood pressure before, during, and after operations unrelated to their hearts had higher rates of heart attacks and death than similar patients who were not taking the drugs, a study shows.
