(NaturalNews) Throughout history, there have been plenty of examples of quack medicine that after being accepted and institutionalized for a time was later exposed as a fraud. A perfect example of this is the heinous practice of bloodletting, one of the longest running traditions in medicine that was initially founded upon the belief that pain and sickness are caused by having too much blood inside the body.

As silly as this sounds, doctors of old would literally drain the blood of their patients in the hope that doing so would cure them of everything from headaches and back pain to melancholy and depression. Nobody questioned this because medical doctors and public health authorities said it was safe and effective, so the people believed them.

It wasn't until a few brave individuals came forward and questioned the safety and effectiveness of bloodletting, which at one point in time was considered "science-based medicine" in the same way as modern-day vaccines, that the practice was eventually exposed as pseudoscientific barbarism. But it took challenging the status quo when nobody else would to reveal this truth.

Herd immunity completely misconstrued

Vaccines are the modern-day equivalent to bloodletting, it turns out, in that the claims long made about their safety and effectiveness simply don't hold up to science. As opposed to naturally acquired immunity, vaccines confer only temporary, man-made immunity, if you will, that wears off over time. This is now undeniable fact, but when vaccines were first introduced, the claim was that they provided lifelong immunity, a hypothesis which has since been disproven.

Furthermore, the whole concept of "herd immunity" as we know it today has been completely misconstrued. Ironically, the term was originally hatched as a reference to the lifelong immunity that people acquired when they were naturally exposed to pathogens and viruses. It had nothing to do with vaccinating as many people as possible in order to provide universal protection for the "herd," which is how it's used today.

Board-certified neurosurgeon, author and lecturer Dr. Russell Blaylock, M.D., says "herd immunity" as it's thrown around today is a myth. Based on the relatively recent discovery that most vaccines lose their effectiveness between two and 10 years following administration, at least half of the population has been unprotected for decades.

"If we listen to present-day wisdom, we are all at risk of resurgent massive epidemics should the vaccination rate fall below 95%," he wrote. "Yet, we have all lived for at least 30 to 40 years with 50% or less of the population having vaccine protection. That is, herd immunity has not existed in this country for many decades and no resurgent epidemics have occurred."

Vaccines founded on bad science

Much like bloodletting, vaccine theory is based on an antiquated understanding of how human immunity works. Artificially stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies as humoral protection against disease simply isn't reflective of the latest science showing that vaccine-induced antibodies don't last, and they may not even prevent or fight infection as widely claimed.

"Hopefully soon, vaccination, which is not immunization, will be esteemed in the same regard as blood-letting, which killed our first President," wrote Jeff Prystupa, DC, in a comment on Dr. Blaylock's article.

"The medical experts drained 55.8% of George Washington's blood in less than 10 hours. His wife, Martha, pleaded with the doctors to not drain her robust husband's blood – she tried to execute an exemption on her husband's behalf, but her efforts did not stand up to the wisdom and power of the 'best and brightest' – they knew he was suffering from the effects of having too much blood."

"So they drained 124 of his roughly 224 ounce volume – in four draws over a nine-hour period. They were wrong. Just like today – vaccines are wrong. Barbaric and ill-conceived."
