Boston Children's Hospital accused of 'routinely kidnapping' children for profit

(NaturalNews) A Connecticut couple is fighting to regain custody of their 16-year-old daughter after she was forcibly abducted by Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) in Massachusetts, where her parents had voluntarily admitted her for medical treatment with a family specialist. According to an in-depth investigation by FoxCT.com's Beau Berman, young Justina Pelletier has remained imprisoned at BCH for some nine months now and only gets to see her parents once a week for one hour, a victim of what appears to be a bizarre child kidnapping conspiracy at the prominent institution.

Justina had earlier been diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, a disorder that can lead to muscle weakness and loss of coordination. Despite her condition, she reportedly lived a mostly normal life, ice skating for fun and spending time with her friends and family. But everything changed for Justina the moment she was admitted to BCH with a case of influenza, when an entirely different team of doctors reportedly changed her diagnosis and called the Department of Children & Families (DCF) on her parents.

These new doctors, whom Justina's family had never seen before, decided that Justina did not actually have mitochondrial disease but rather a mental illness known as somatoform disorder. They proceeded to question the integrity of the original diagnosis, even though it was given by a licensed medical doctor, and arbitrarily decided that Justina would not be able to leave the hospital with her parents after she recovered from the flu, instead handing her guardianship over to DCF and the State of Massachusetts.

"It's beyond any wildest nightmare that you could think of," says Justina's father, Lou, who is now working tirelessly with his wife to get their daughter back from the state.

"They came in and they said we cannot take Justina out of the hospital," adds Justina's mother, Linda. "They called DCF."

BCH files 51A form against Justina's parents accusing them of child abuse

During a recent interview with NaturalNews' own Robert Scott Bell, Berman from FoxCT.com, who broke the story, explained in further detail what he uncovered about the case, including how BCH filed a special form known as a 51A against Justina's parents that accused them of child abuse. This was the mechanism through which the hospital ultimately assumed custody of the child against the will of her parents.

Prior to her admission at BCH, Justina had reportedly been taking a number of medications for her condition that the hospital later scrapped as unnecessary. The assigned medical team also declared that Justina had developed regressive behavior around her family due to multiple "medical procedures and care episodes" that she was allegedly put through while under their care, circumstances that were later used as justification for calling DCF.

But Justina's family disagrees, having told reporters that their child regressed after being forcibly imprisoned at the hospital.

"I am dismayed," wrote Dr. Mark Korson, the specialist from Tufts Medical Center who originally diagnosed Justina with mitochondrial disease, to FoxCT.com. "It feels like Justina's treatment team is out to prove the diagnosis at all costs ... The team has demanded that Justina be removed from the home ... This represents the most severe and intrusive intervention a patient can undergo ... for a clinical hunch."

Multiple cases of child kidnappings have taken place at BCH and elsewhere

The Pelletiers are currently fighting DCF in court to get their daughter back, and their next hearing is set for December 5. In the meantime, a judge has issued a gag order on the case, blocking all those involved, including Justina's parents, from talking about it with the media. Representatives from the hospital have even threatened FoxCT.com with legal action for its role in breaking the story.

But as horrific as Justina's case is, it is only the tip of the iceberg. Numerous other children have reportedly been kidnapped by BCH in recent years, including one young boy who was also previously diagnosed with mitochondrial disease and later declared by BCH doctors not to have it. Like Justina, this child was also placed into the hands of DCF, though his parents were eventually successful in regaining custody.

Sadly, the same cannot be said for 16-year-old Elizabeth Wray, who earlier this year was diagnosed with Pediatric Autoimmune Neuro-Psychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcus, or PANDAS. In almost the exact same way that Justina was re-diagnosed, BCH doctors declared that young Elizabeth did not actually have the disease and proceeded to seize custody of her. Like Justina, Elizabeth remains imprisoned at BCH, and her parents are having to take on the giant to get her released.

"This is not the only hospital or U.S. city [where] this is happening," writes one FoxCT.com commenter, whose daughter ended up dying while in custody of the state. "Exactly the same (thing) happened to me and my teen daughter in one of the most well known hospitals in the world. They don't have to charge the parent with a crime, nor do they allow you your day in court before a judge and jury of your peers to hear your side and see your proof of innocence."
