The essence of the 2012 election: Proposition 37

(NaturalNews) Yes, we all know that political elections are about ego, lies and false promises. We are told things we want to hear so the guy telling it to us can get our vote. People that hate kids, kiss babies, people that would never associate with "undesirables" shake hands with everyone and all the candidates present themselves as the "guy next door". But this is not the essence of the 2012 election.

The essence of the 2012 election is Proposition 37 in California: the labeling of genetically modified foods.

Bear in mind that this innocuous proposition, which simply lets the people know what they are eating, has already caused Monsanto and other biotech companies to spend multi-millions of dollars to insure its defeat.

The major question here is why would the biotech industry do this? Because they know full well that GMOs are disastrous to your health and if labeled, you will not buy them and it will hurt their profits.

Recently, in Hawaii, we had a City Council hearing where GMO labeling was the business of the day.

Ten days before the hearing I passed out a report to the eight City Council members indicating beyond the shadow of a doubt that GMOs caused adverse health defects due to Monsanto's deadly pesticide glyphosate, in it's number one weed killer, Roundup Ready.

The report entitled, Roundup and Birth Defects: Is the Public Being Kept in the Dark? was written by noted scientists, educators and researchers to enlighten the public about the fact that Monsanto's reports disclosed the fact that glyphosate use brought about birth defects, DNA damage, embryonic deaths, cancers, endocrine disruption, fetal death, reproductive toxicity, and neurotoxicity to infants.

Being the first to testify, I held up my copy of the report and reminded the Council members that they all had copies of the report and that Monsanto's seven "hookers" were going to lie to them and tell them that the report did not exist and that the Roundup, glyphoste containing pesticide, was safe to eat.

After defeating the labeling bill 5 to 3, we learned that four out of the five took money from Monsanto.

According to an article in Environmental Health News, written by Crystal Gammon, researchers have found that one of Roundup's inert ingredients can kill human cells, particularly embryonic, placental and umbilical cord cells. Pesticide researchers and activists from the U.S. to Argentina, Japan and Croatia have been calling for public access to, and warnings about, inerts (almost 4,000 solvents, surfactants and other chemicals included in pesticides, approved by the U.S. EPS, yet not specified on warning labels because they are not the "active" ingredients aimed at pest control).

Glyphosate, Roundup's active ingredient, is the most widely used herbicide in the U.S. About 100 million pounds are applied to U.S. farms and lawns every year. Until now, most health studies have focused on the safety of glyphosate alone, rather than the mixture on ingredients found in Roundup. In a study from The University of Caan, in France, first published last year, scientists found that Roundup's inert ingredients amplified the toxic effect on human cells, even at concentrations much more diluted than those used on farms and lawns. Their focus was on POEA (polyethoxylated tallow amine) an inert detergent in Roundup that they were astonished to discover was far more dangerous than the herbicide itself. The proprietary mixtures available on the market could cause cell damage and even death at the residual levels found on Roundup- treated crops, such as soybeans, alfalfa and corn, or lawns and gardens.

Despite Monsanto's claims that the study is flawed, Giles-Eric Seralini, the molecular biologist that headed the French study, says that standard toxicological methods were used and that competitors can discover what is in formulations like Roundup with routine lab analysis. The purpose of proprietary protection laws for inerts is solely for the purpose of keeping information from the public. What's worse is that when mixed together at concentrations officially considered "safe", ten of the world's most widely used pesticides can combine to produce a chemical cocktail deadlier than any of the chemicals acting alone.

Monsanto has known since the 1980s that glyphosate causes brain defects and has covered up that price of information. And in case you know about the chemtrails that are dropping aluminum particles on us, Monsanto has a patent pending for aluminum-resistant seeds.

Having the right to know what is in the food you eat is elementary. The label indicates the calorie content, the fat content, the sugar content, whether it has additives or artificial colorings or sugar substitutes. But Monsanto and the biotech industry say that knowing whether or not that food in genetically modified or not is irrelevant.
