Racism is okay when democrats do it: MSNBC host calls Ben Carson a 'safe negro' for Republicans

(NaturalNews) Thanks to little-watched cable "news" channel MSNBC, the latest example of liberal, politically correct hypocrisy was put on display.
As reported by Breitbart News, one of the network's guests recently disparaged the ethnicity of neurosurgeon and Republican presidential contender Ben Carson, leading Carson's campaign manager, Barry Bennett, firing back.
In recent days, L. Joy Williams, a chapter president for the NAACP, labeled Carson – who sits atop GOP polls – a "safe negro," a comment which she has since unsuccessfully attempted to walk back.
After she was called out for the insult, she incredibly claimed that she only meant the phrase as a description of what some of Carson's supporters might think, not what she herself thinks (though she never clarified that at the time she uttered the phrase).
"I think if a Republican had said similar things about Barack Obama, they would probably be under investigation," Bennett told Breitbart News.
He added that it's "better to be thought a fool than open one's mouth and remove all doubt."
'That's not what I said'
Williams is a Democratic "strategist" and president of the Brooklyn, New York, chapter of the NAACP. She was appearing on the network's "Up" program Sunday, Nov. 8, when she said:
So one you're right, Dr. Carson's story is one in which those who knew him beforehand, which I am among them, knew of his inspirational story. It was something he communicated all the time. But you mentioned something really important. The really important thing of people supporting him because it's, "Oh, there's another black man commenting or — negatively against the president and I don't feel comfortable in doing so, um because of the race factor." So here's someone who can do it.
In discussion after making her original remarks, she noted, as she held up her hands on screen to make a "quote" gesture, that people are supporting the famed neurosurgeon because he is a "safe negro" to back. The discussion happened live on national TV and was widely documented.
However, when contacted by Breitbart News about why she made the comment, she claimed she didn't call Carson a "safe negro" but instead was describing what she viewed as the rationale behind some of his supporters.
"I did not call him a 'safe negro,'" she said in an email, as reported by Breitbart. "In responding to the GOP panel member's comment about Dr. Carson criticizing the President, '...a Black man attacking another Black man...', I said that he is perceived that way by some of his supporters. That is evident even among those who are critical of my comment and sending messages to me about it. They believe Dr. Carson is 'not like the rest of you Blacks' (a direct quote of a message I received). If one subscribes to this thought, they believe that the default for Blacks is one of degradation, violence and poverty. The point I made is that there are those who support him because of this thought process."
She also said she believes that some people who are supporting Carson's presidential bid are inspired by his story and his Christian faith.

"When we began the segment I said I believed that most of his supporters were attracted to his faith and his inspirational story," Williams said in her email. "This I truly believe. His achievements is a story we all grew up with and it is a compelling one that works in politics."
After that exchange she took to Twitter to defend herself, essentially repeating the claims she made in the email to Breitbart.
This wasn't the first time Carson was disparaged by Left-wing African Americans. In October, Anthea Butler, a University of Pennsylvania religious studies professor, said Carson deserved the "coon of the year" award, referring to a derogatory term used to insult African Americans.
And PBS host Tavis Smiley called Carson a "black bull in a Republican China shop" during a debate on Fox News regarding Carson's criticism of President Obama's policies.
Racism is indeed alive and well in America, and increasingly it's a black-on-black phenomenon.
