During the Third Reich, Nazis experimented on psychiatric patients to test gas chamber methods

(NaturalNews) World War II ended 70 years ago, but information about just how murderous and depraved Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist Party (Nazis) were continues to be unearthed by researchers.
The UK's Daily Mail reports that in the lead-up to major hostilities in Europe, Hitler and his Nazis were busy laying the ground for what would become the most horrific reign of terror in modern history. It was one in which an entire ethnic group – the Jewish people – was nearly wiped out.
Shortly after Hitler's army quickly overran neighboring Poland in 1939, the Nazis began to develop the concept of using poisonous gas chambers for mass extermination. The Daily Mail noted:
Seized by the SS on October 10 1939, the 19th century Fort Colomb in the city of Poznan in west Poland was renamed Konzentrationslager Posen (Concentration Camp Poznan).
But rather than serving as a holding space for prisoners of the Reich, what followed was the systematic murder of psychiatric patients, local resistance fighters, academics, the intelligentsia and anyone seen by the Nazis as a threat.
No one was spared
However, it would be three more years before the Final Solution, the euphemism used by Nazi Party officials tied to the Holocaust to hide its true intent, began to be implemented.
"But 76 years ago this month, it was decided that Fort VII, as it is known, would be the first place to experiment with gas in the mass killing of civilians," the Daily Mail reported.
Only someone as evil as Hitler would test-run a mass extinction program in order to make it as efficient as possible.
Herbert Lange, an official with the Nazi's secret police, the Gestapo, was placed in charge of the facility. SS thugs underneath him formed a special execution squad known as the SS-Sonderkommando-Lange, which was responsible for gathering patients from a nearby psychiatric hospital in the town of Owinska. Accounts show they were herded like sheep into trucks and transported to the primitive but effective gas chambers that once served as a storage area for artillery rounds. Initially, the SS squads only took male patients.
Historical records show that 25 people could be squeezed into each truck, and about three trucks left the hospital daily. After all of the men were gassed and killed, the SS thugs then began taking female patients and, eventually, all the children from the institution. By November 30, 1939, all psychiatric patients in the facility had been murdered.
Mobile gas chambers
"In the end, no-one was spared," the Daily Mail reported. "The hospital staff were also driven to the camp and gassed to death and the hospital was turned into an SS barracks."
When they arrived at the gas camp, patients were unloaded and driven like cattle across a bridge before being led into the two chambers on top of a hill located near the back end of the converted fort. Once they were locked inside the chambers, the doors were sealed with clay while carbon monoxide was pumped in through a hole.
Following these "successes" of their truly abominable experiments, the Nazis then developed and began using mobile gas chambers so they could bring death with them when they visited patients at other hospitals in the area. Victims were driven to nearby forests, where SS squads would place an exhaust pipe into the back of the vans and then bury them in pre-dug mass graves.
Midway through 1940, Lange and his men had killed more than 1,000 patients from Owinska, 2,750 from another psych hospital in the town of Koscina some 31 miles away, 1,558 patients and 300 Polish citizens in the town of Dzialdowo 179 miles away, and hundreds of other Polish citizens at the concentration camp.
