Six powerful foods that taste better than junk foods
by Dr.Sofiya
(NaturalNews) One of the persistent myths about eating healthy is that food that is good for the body doesn't necessarily taste good. People are encouraged to eat certain foods because they are "good for them" but not because they are delicious. The fact of the matter is, however, that there are many healthy foods out there that taste much better than junk food that is full of saturated fats, sodium, sugar and empty calories and made with the cheapest ingredients that manufacturers can get their hands on. Healthy eating can be pleasurable as well, especially once people train their taste buds to enjoy food that is fresh and healthful rather than coming out of a factory. Below is a list of some of the foods that are both delicious and nutritious, that are healthy but that also taste far better than junk foods.
Strawberries
Fresh strawberries are a delicious treat and go well in salads, smoothies or as a simple and tasty dessert. And they are also incredibly healthy, being loaded with fiber, vitamins, minerals and a powerful collection of anti-oxidants that keep the body in good health.
Blueberries
Like strawberries, blueberries are a delicious addition to smoothies and also go great in mixed fruit salad, compotes or other fruit-based desserts. Pound for pound, blueberries have the highest antioxidant content of any berry and are also a great source of vitamins, minerals and fiber.
Dark chocolate
One of the most delicious ways to stay healthy is to consume dark chocolate on a regular basis. The flavonoids in dark chocolate have been shown to help with weight loss and blood sugar control and can even lower the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Almonds
Almonds are another food that are as delicious as they are healthy. They can be added to oatmeal, healthy muffins, stir-fries and many other desserts and are a great source of plant-based proteins, fiber, antioxidants and vitamins and minerals that keep the body fit and strong.
Pistachios
Whether eaten plain or added to other dishes (such as a brown rice pilaf), pistachios are not only amazingly tasty, they are considered to be one of the healthiest nuts, since they are rich in oleic acid (the same acid found in olive olive), and antioxidant like lutein and beta-carotene.
Cherries
Cherries have a wonderfully rich and sweet taste and are great in cereals, in fruit-based desserts or even eaten plain. They are full of a powerful antioxidant called quercetin which has proven anti-cancer properties and can also help with arthritis due to their anti-inflammatory properties.
So remember, eating healthy doesn't have to be a chore! The foods listed above are incredibly good for the body but taste incredibly delicious as well. This makes it easy to enjoy eating right while keeping the body healthy and happy.
