U.S. doctors are licensed drug dealers fueling heroin addiction among patients
by Jennifer Lilley
(NaturalNews) It's no secret that heroin is a terrible drug that destroys lives; it's considered one of the most addictive substances created and is so powerful that people typically experience constant cravings. While those who get wrapped up in this dark world are perceived as dangerous, troubled individuals, let's take a closer look at what's really going on. Turns out, the troubled ones who are wrapped up in an evil world are actually U.S. doctors, as they're believed to play a significant role in fueling these people's addictions.(1,2)
That's right. So-called esteemed U.S. doctors are ruining health rather than making it better, and the nightmare is traced to the use of prescription pain relievers. It's disturbing that something we're told can help improve one's health may instead lead one down a path of harm, but according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) that's precisely what's happening. Their report, "National Heroin Threat Assessment," notes that, from 2007 through 2013, deaths related to heroin use has tripled and that the population of users has nearly doubled in the same time period. But why? Enter our medical system and government.(2,3)
Prescription drugs can be addictive, not uncommon for abusers to turn to heroin
The report states that, while the higher use of heroin is in part due to increased availability, it's also because abusers of controlled prescription drugs (CPD) are turning to it. "CPD abusers who begin using heroin do so chiefly because of price differences, but also because of availability, and the reformulation of OxyContin®, a commonly abused prescription opiod."(4)
The report continues to highlight the role of prescription pain medications as it relates to heroin use:
In the 2000s, a very large number of people became opioid abusers by using CPDs non-medically, many after initially receiving legitimate prescriptions. Some CPD abusers throughout the country continue to use heroin when some CPDs are expensive or unavailable. After the 2010 reformulation of the commonly abused prescription opioid OxyContin®, which made it difficult to inhale or inject, some people who abused OxyContin® migrated to heroin for access to a potent injectable drug.
Of course, we can talk about the fact that each person is responsible for their own actions and that no one is taking anyone by the hand insisting that they turn to heroin. However, the fact remains that there's a link between being prescribed medications and a world of addiction, as such medications in and of themselves are highly addictive.
Our twisted medical world: The approved drugs designed to combat addiction actually create the problem in the first place
Consider that the FDA has approved numerous painkillers, all the while possessing an awareness about their risks of addiction; ironically, they're often painkillers designed to reduce addiction. How does it make sense that a medication known to create addictive and potentially life-threatening results is approved? Well, in part, we already know what's going on: greed, cover-ups, loopholes and wording designed to make desperate consumers think they're taking the best thing since sliced bread.
So, the twisted, never-ending cycle continues in which purported attempts to curb addiction actually lead to a more of it. Sadly, painkillers are considered to be more lethal than heroin and cocaine combined. Yet, the FDA continues with the approval process, doctors prescribe them, and if people aren't dying from prescribed painkillers, they're on the road to the likes of heroin -- in large part because prescription meds created an addiction to begin with.(2)
We're being deceived and manipulated on a daily basis, often under the guise of protecting our mental and physical health. Our health suffers, medical bills go through the roof, and families are destroyed.
Where does the madness stop?
