Mainstream media blacks out arrest of activists protesting government-endorsed abortion at John Boehner's office
by PF Louis
(NaturalNews) By now, most of us are used to the extent mainstream media (MSM) cherry picks what to present and what to ignore. It's usually ignoring what may upset the established status-quo and presenting what's acceptable to Big Pharma, mainstream medicine, GMOs, Obamaphiles, the "war on terror" and so forth.
This isn't just the stuff of op-eds, but what is actually presented or not presented as news. After all, there are papers and magazines to sell and TV sponsors to satisfy and officials that have to be accessible for quick quotes.
Now that the MSM is in the hands of the very few that own it all, it's worse than ever. The latest Disney measles so-called "outbreak" is an example. Yellow journalism has deepened to a darker shade of yellow that isn't confined to one publisher.
Here's a recent ongoing example of political activism that was ignored by the MSM
Pro-lifers were arrested for peaceful sit-in demonstrations registering their disappointment over the sudden shift in momentum with the proposed Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
Pro-lifers were anticipating the now Republican majority House of Representatives would shove it through without any hitches. It's ongoing because they intend to continue practicing civil disobedience for this issue.
This is not an outright anti-abortion bill, but one that would ban late term abortions after 20 weeks of gestation. There is strong scientific evidence that after 20 weeks of gestation, the abortion produces pain in a very premature baby; and even if it is alive afterward, it is killed.
It is also called a partial birth abortion, which borders on infanticide and endangers the women involved.
The activists who were hauled off and arrested were protesting peacefully outside of Republican House Speaker John Boehner's office. They were escorted away peacefully but handcuffed and arrested for refusing to leave. One by one they were released after several hours.
Why the demonstration? House Speaker Boehner had assured pro-lifers that there would be a vote on the bill this past January, but the bill died before coming to a vote.
Pro-lifers felt betrayed after helping vote in pro-life republicans into office to assure that finally a pro-life congress was in place and something could be done about late term abortions, which are currently legal.
Part of the bill demands a police report for rape or incest victims seeking late term abortions rather than allowing abortionist to "simply check off the box" on either situation and go ahead and profit from their bloody craft legally.
One of the most outspoken activists who demonstrated, RN Jill Stanek, stated, "I, as a nurse at a hospital in Chicago, held an abortion survivor for 45 minutes until he died, and he was 21 weeks old," she said. "An abortion ban such as this would save babies like I held. This is very real to me."
Apparently a few other republican representatives, two of whom had co-authored Boehner's bill, Rep. Renee Ellmers of North Carolina and Rep. Jackie Walorski of Indiana, who had expressed support for the bill in 2013 got cold feet and backed off over concerns about the rape and incest reporting requirement that would allow exceptions to the ban.
But pro-lifers claim most Democrats wouldn't oppose that requirement for late term abortions since it wouldn't be a requirement for earlier stage abortions.
So why weren't the pro-lifers demonstrating those representatives' offices? They said that House Speaker Boehner didn't demonstrate the backbone to whip the others in line and properly "shepherd" the bill through. This had been a long term project among various right to life groups that knew the time was finally was right for this bill.
Operation Rescue President Troy Newman expressed his disappointment during the demonstration by declaring, "Boehner, get your act together. Stop ignoring the people who got you elected. Four months into the year and still no bill. It is laughable to call this the most pro-life Congress ever."
