Homeschooling family persecuted by Canadian medical system escaped to freedom in Germany

by Jonathan Benson, staff writer

(NaturalNews) When the Herrmann family decided to leave Germany eight years ago to come to Canada where homeschooling is more widely accepted, they thought they were making the smart choice for their children's health and education. But the nightmare that would ensue for their precious son Marc, an identical twin born prematurely with serious health problems that almost killed him, eventually drove the family back to their native land in desperate pursuit of medical freedom.

Marc, or Marcky as he is affectionately known by his family and friends, became yet another victim of the corrupt child services system after doctors misdiagnosed his condition and put him on drug treatments that made him worse-off. Born prematurely along with his twin brother, Marcky suffered from extremely low lung capacity and eating abnormalities that the experts claimed offered him little chance of survival but that he miraculously overcame by being placed in the same incubator as his brother shortly after birth.

Marcky's health was still questionable, though, and his parents decided that the best course of action was to homeschool him rather than send him to a germ-filled public school. Strict rules in Germany regarding homeschooling sent the family packing for Canada, where Marcky was eventually diagnosed with Miller Fisher syndrome, a variant of Guillain-Barre syndrome (which often results from vaccination; see MMR vaccine package insert[PDF]), resulting in him being prescribed intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatment.

Marcky's first diagnosis turned out to be wrong, and the IVIG treatment he was prescribed caused him to develop high blood pressure, fever, nausea, rashes and sensitivity to light. He also had a hard time eating and maintaining a healthy weight, because of which Marcky's doctor eventually changed his diagnosis to Wernicke's encephalopathy.

But Marcky's treatments for this second diagnosis continued to harm him, resulting in him losing more weight and also his ability to walk. His doctor at the time didn't seem to care, according to the family, and wasn't at all concerned with his declining health. And when the family tried to seek out a second opinion, the Child and Family Services Authority (CFSA) stepped in and seized custody of Marcky, accusing his parents of neglect.

Meanwhile, the quack doctor that got the first two diagnoses wrong switched Marcky's diagnosis again, this time to EDNOW, or "Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified." When this turned out to be yet another bad diagnosis, the doctor changed Marcky's disorder a FOURTH time to ARFID, "Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder" -- but no tests were ever run to see if there was any psychological basis for Marcky's symptoms.

Child Services kidnaps boy, subjects him to torture and abuse outside of his family's care

Rather than investigate Marcky's doctor for repeatedly making false diagnoses that were making the boy's condition worse, CFSA instead accused Marcky's parents of neglecting and abusing him. The state covered for this quack doctor, and for the next year, Marcky suffered what amounts to institutionalized torture and abuse while under the "care" of the Canadian government.

"It was the worst time in my life," recalls Marcky about his time in captivity. "The pains were not only physically but also mentally and I was forbidden to tell my parents. I was forbidden to say that Child Services ignored the mistakes of Doctors and instead they helped them cover it up. How I felt was not a big deal for them. I was so alone for so long and I do not want to go back to that memory but I understand that if I do not speak up these tortures will keep happening. That is why I tried my best to write."

According to Marcky, CFSA conducted heinous medical experiments on him without informed consent, falsely accused him of being retarded, force-fed him lactose even though he is lactose-intolerant and isolated him from everyone in his life who loves him -- all in the name of "protecting" him from his supposedly "dangerous" family.

"I lost my freedom, I lost my family. I lost my friends. I learnt many lessons, the friends from Church Groups slowly disappeared because no one wants to deal with a child who is in the care of CFS," wrote Marcky about his experience.

Marcky was eventually released from the CFSA prison, with the help of the German embassy. But if it weren't for his bravery in coming forward, he could have become a permanent subject of the Canadian government. You can read Marcky's full story here:
