Public comment period on government's plan to foment vaccine hysteria and mandate vaccination ends March 9
by J. D. Heyes
(NaturalNews) The Obama Administration is using the excuse of "racial" and "ethnic disparities" to push a plan whose goal is "improving adult immunization" rates by forcing more vaccines on the American public.
According to an announcement in the Federal Register, the National Vaccine Program Office, which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services, has developed the draft National Adult Immunization Plan (NAIP), which "details background on the immunization landscape and provides a strategic plan for federal and nonfederal stakeholders."
The goal, as stated in the announcement, is to provide a "final report" to the HHS secretary, Sylvia Burwell, "in the first quarter of 2015" that recommends vaccination for a greater portion of the U.S. adult population.
Now the government wants more adults immunized, too
The report, titled "National Adult Immunization Plan," provides a "roadmap" for boosting adult immunization rates "for the decade 2010-2020."
The plan stems from the government's predetermined position that all vaccines are danger-free and improve public health.
"Vaccination is considered one of the most important public health achievements of the 20th century and continues to offer great promise in the 21st century. Vaccines save lives and improve the quality of life by preventing serious infectious diseases and their consequences," says an executive summary for the report. "However, the benefits of vaccination are not realized equally across the U.S. population. Adult vaccination rates remain low in the United States, and significant racial and ethnic disparities also exist."
The "five-year plan," the report further states, "is intended to facilitate coordinated action by federal and nonfederal partners to protect public health and achieve optimal prevention of infectious diseases and their consequences through vaccination of adults."
The NAIP has four goals:
-- "Strengthen the adult immunization infrastructure";
-- "Improve access to adult vaccines";
-- "Increase community demand for adult immunizations"; and
-- "Foster innovation in adult vaccine development and vaccination-related technologies."
The NAIP is a multi-faceted attempt by HHS to dramatically expand vaccination programs to adults. According to the plan, the government is casting a wide net to maximize participation:
While federal leadership and the alignment of federal activities are critical to implementing this plan, participation by diverse stakeholders is necessary for the NAIP to realize its potential. The NAIP is a national rather than federal plan and thus calls for the coordinated action of governmental and nongovernmental partners. The success of this plan will depend on the synergies between state, local, territorial, and tribal governments; health care providers; advocacy groups; vaccine manufacturers; academia and research organizations; payers and health plans; employers; and the general public to work together to overcome barriers and improve access to adult vaccinations.
Big Pharma the "new Mafia"
Some believe that the participation of "vaccine manufacturers" is particularly disturbing, given the growing corporate influence of Big Pharma on government health policy decisions. As noted by Daniela Drake at The Daily Beast, Big Pharma has become the country's "new Mafia."
"What's not funny is that America is the most medicated nation on earth, with some 70 percent of Americans taking prescription drugs--yet we have worse health outcomes than other industrialized countries. Part of the problem may be the drugs themselves," she wrote, quoting another expert who said prescription drugs kill 200,000 Americans a year, making them the third-leading cause of death behind heart disease and cancer. Her full report is here.
Despite government claims that vaccines have dramatically improved public health, there is enough pre-existing evidence to conclude that, prior to the introduction of widespread vaccines in the U.S., the incidents of communicable diseases were declining rapidly. These charts demonstrating a decline in Canadian incidents of disease[PDF] prior to the introduction of vaccines is indicative of U.S. cases as well (you can view those charts here).
As required for federal rulemaking, HHS has established a public commentary period for the new NAIP plan. You can register your comments here. Respectful comments packed with hard data tend to be taken more seriously.
