Obamacare architect Gruber a promoter of abortion-facilitated eugenics that targets poor black families

by J. D. Heyes

(NaturalNews) Liberals love to pretend that they have so much more "compassion" than conservatives, especially for minorities, but in reality there isn't much compassion in policies that hurt minority communities by keeping them mired in failure and poverty.

A perfect example of this non-compassion was on exhibit recently by everybody's most loathed liberal, Obamacare architect and MIT professor Jonathan Gruber. Not only has he recently gotten into hot water after a citizen journalist uncovered video footage of him bragging to groups of people at conferences about the "stupidity" of Americans and helping the president steal the healthcare industry, but in the past he has also been an unapologetic abortion advocate -- but not in your average "women's rights" kind of way.

"No, Gruber's abortion advocacy is of a particularly pungent eugenics variety," reports Breitbart News. "He's on record repeatedly making the case from social science that abortion is a 'social good' because it reduces the number of 'marginal children,' by which he means urban poor--those he says can be counted on to commit crimes if they were ever born."

During the Bill Clinton years, Gruber was co-author of a paper which argued that legal abortion had saved taxpayers something like $14 billion in welfare benefits, while at the same time lowering the crime rate.

His work, due to his status as an MIT academic, heavily influenced other social engineers and researchers. That includes a paper called "The Impact of Legalized Abortion" by Steven Levitt of the University of Chicago; his later book, Freakonomics, was a product of Gruber's work, and his ongoing work forcefully argues that abortion legalizations in the early 1970s, following a Supreme Court decision overturning bans in all 50 states, caused dramatic reductions in crime two decades later.

Eugenics is a philosophy of the Left

"Pro-lifers have always wondered why the black community has not responded more aggressively to the fact that so many abortion clinics are located in poor neighborhoods and why the black abortion rate is so much higher than whites," said the Breitbart News report, further noting that a documentary called Maafa 21 argues that abortion is a part of what has been called a "black genocide." See the trailer to that documentary here.

Ryan Scott Bomberger, an African American marketing expert, founded a group called The Radiance Foundation, which makes commercials for the unborn child with a notable emphasis on the high degree and occurrence of black abortions. The Emmy-winning Bomberger's TooManyAborted.com campaign focuses particularly on African American abortion; one of the memes calls abortion a "civil wrong" and notes that blacks are "still not free at last" because of the scourge of abortion.

He is currently being sued by the NAACP for calling that organization "pro-abortion," Breitbart News said.

"Racial betterment"

Another group called 41 Percent tracks all abortions in New York City, where the abortion rate is twice the national average. The organization points out that the abortion rate in the mostly black borough of the Bronx is an unbelievable 47 percent.

"These are the types of communities Gruber meant when he referred the 'marginal children' who were the most likely to end up on welfare and committing crimes if they were allowed to be born," Breitbart News said.

For the record, the modern eugenics movement is a tool of the political Left; it was championed by a woman named Margaret Sanger, who opened the country's first birth control clinic in 1916. It closed a year later, and she was cited for being a public nuisance. However, in 1921 she founded the American Birth Control League, which, following a merger with the Birth Control Clinical Research Bureau and a name change, eventually became Planned Parenthood of America, today's largest chain of abortion clinics.

"While I personally believe in the sterilization of the feeble-minded, the insane and syphilitic, I have not been able to discover that these measures are more than superficial deterrents when applied to the constantly growing stream of the unfit," she once wrote in a 1919 paper titled, "Birth Control and Racial Betterment." "They are excellent means of meeting a certain phase of the situation, but I believe in regard to these, as in regard to other eugenic means, that they do not go to the bottom of the matter."
