Australia scraps carbon tax in major defeat for global warming alarmism

(NaturalNews) The misguided war on carbon, which has erroneously become the scapegoat for so-called "global warming," is showing signs of retreat in Australia, where a proposed carbon cap scheme was recently abandoned. Prime Minister Tony Abbott's government has reportedly agreed to scrap a plan that would have taxed companies based on their carbon dioxide emissions, the lynchpin strategy of the climate obsessors in their quest to control free enterprise.
Supposedly the largest polluter per capita among all other industrialized nations, Australia's decision to avoid penalizing its major industries for carbon release represents a major move away from the myth that carbon dioxide is responsible for man-made global warming, or what in more recent times has evolved into "climate change." And this as Australia prepares to host the upcoming meeting of the Group of 20 nations, also known as the G20 Summit.
According to Bloomberg, Australia hopes to instead implement a credit program that rewards companies for voluntarily reducing their carbon emissions, rather than penalize companies that release "too much." This strategy would allow Australia's current government to uphold its bold position that man-made climate change is "absolute crap," to quote the words of Prime Minister Abbott back in 2009, while at the same time encourage industries to release less pollution.
"We are a conservationist government," stated Abbott following the recent vote to abandon what amounts to unsubstantiated carbon taxes. "We are a government which absolutely appreciates that we have only got one planet, and we should pass it on to our children and grandchildren in at least as good shape as we found it."

Australia's bucking of the global trend of carbon hate is drawing considerable criticism from a number of global architects, including infamous climate apostle and energy hypocrite Al Gore. The former vice president, whose own personal residence reportedly generates a monthly energy bill topping $30,000, issued a statement decrying the decision.
He and others are now attempting to shame Australia for not caving to unfounded political pressure that favors demonizing carbon as the primary cause of climate change. Gore is also pushing, alongside others in the climate change business, for Australia to at least implement a carbon trading program that only charges "polluters" when their trading partners are also being charged.
The goal, of course, is to extort as much money as possible from the industrialized nations of the world in the name of saving the world. But this tired scheme that plays on fear over science isn't working as well as it used to, as demonstrated by Australia's intrepid resistance to all the climate bullying from the eco-Marxists.
"Today, the tax that you voted to get rid of is finally gone," announced Abbott following his administration's decision.
"A useless, destructive tax which damaged jobs, which hurt families' cost of living and which didn't actually help the environment is finally gone," he added, noting that the repeal will save Australian families about $550 per year in energy costs, as well as make up for the $15 billion in economic losses incurred during the first two years of the program's implementation.
Supporters of the decision hope that America's government will take a similar course, as the Obama administration has proposed carbon regulations that would cost the U.S. economy $50 billion a year.
"The Australia Government's reversal of the carbon tax is a lesson in leadership for the modern world," said Peabody Energy CEO Gregory H. Boyce in a recent statement. "We encourage U.S. policymakers to take the same path and reject the Administration's costly proposed rules on power plants. Technology, not caps and taxes, is the key to long-term improvement in carbon emissions."
