Green PolkaDot Box creates way to feed the world healthy food without harmful GMOs or poisons
by Jonathan Benson, staff writer
(NaturalNews) Several years ago, Natural News announced the launch of the world's first online buying club for organic and non-GMO foods, Green PolkaDot Box, which offers healthy foods and consumer products to the public at wholesale prices. Well, now, this pioneer in clean living is unveiling a new concept that dramatically reduces the costs and inputs required for growing healthy food without chemicals or GMOs.
It is known as Living Produce, and Green PolkaDot Box CEO Rod Smith says it will make healthy, organically grown food cheaper for consumers. In fact, the innovative techniques behind the Living Produce concept have the potential to feed the world for a fraction of the cost of current growing methods, all without selling out to Big Biotech and the chemical lobby.
In a new video posted at Indiegogo, Smith explains how the Living Produce system works. Using a patent-pending hydroponic growing technology in conjunction with a patented, water-soluble, organic fertilizer known as NutriPlex, Living Produce is capable of producing nutrient-dense produce using 88 percent less landmass, and up to 95 percent less water, than traditional farming. The system also avoids the pitfalls of exposure to pollution, including herbicides and heavy metals.
Rather than cultivate crops outdoors in traditional fields, the Living Produce system grows produce indoors on high-tech vertical growing beds. These beds are contained in specially designed, climate-controlled growing rooms that provide protection against toxic pesticides and herbicides, as well as cross-contamination with genetically modified organisms.
"In addition to greatly improving food safety, a controlled environment will enable year-round production of traditional, favorites, and even rare varieties that can be sometimes hard to find," explains the company's Indiegogo announcement.
"Not only will it require less space and water, but some varieties of produce have growing cycles of only 30-90 days; meaning harvest yields can be up to 65 times the normal yield of traditionally grown plants!"

According to Smith, the company has already obtained financing for 60 percent of the development costs associated with the project. So far, $1.5 million in construction financing has been lined up for the Living Produce Growing Center, which will be located in Spring City, Utah, and Green PolkaDot Box has already fronted about $500,000 to purchase and develop the land.
But the company is still short about $500,000 and is seeking $250,000 in contributions from members of the public who are interested in the project and what it has to offer. If Green PolkaDot Box can raise $250,000 through membership contributions and partnerships, it has investors lined up to match the other $250,000, allowing it to reach the target goal.
"We recognize that all projects come with their own risks and ours is no exception," said Smith. "But... we have private investors ready to match any and all funds achieved here.
"We have all the right people in place to help us along the way, from experts with years of experience to employees with the desire and ambition to get things done!"
