UFC fighter Brandon Vera a special guest on the Robert Scott Bell show

by J. D. Heyes

(NaturalNews) Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light-heavyweight and heavyweight champion Brandon "The Truth" Vera appeared March 25 on the Robert Scott Bell radio program to discuss homeopathic Cannabidiol (CBD) and the endocannabinoid system, and how he utilizes proper nutrition to prepare for his fights.

At the beginning of the interview, Vera talked about his early life, how he grew up in a nice neighborhood but pointed out that he had to work in tough sections of town because his parents owned a small chain of restaurants there.

Growing up tough led Vera to choose combat sports in school - wrestling, mostly - but eventually to collegiate and pre-Olympic, then, professional fighting. And along the way, he learned the importance of good nutrition.

At present, he says he is currently in the process of growing an aquaponics garden at his home.

"We try to juice every day," he said, alluding to the importance of growing his own wholesome foods. "I think it's super-important."

Continuing, he said, "The biggest thing that's missing, besides education, is availability" of wholesome foods.

We should teach this in our schools

"Kids from the ghetto, kids from the 'hood, even kids from farm towns, don't know about good nutrition," he said. "They only know about food they like, food that's ready for them on the table, or food that's given to them from the cafeteria, or what's down at Subway. But they don't understand what's inside that food. They don't know what makes food nutritious, what actually is the nutritional value of an apple, or the nutritional value of a Snicker's bar... Nobody's ever explained it to them, you know?"

He said such nutritional information should be a part of kids' educational system, "but it's not."

Vera also noted there is "a lot of hypocrisy going on in the world" regarding things like children's medication. He used an example from his personal experience to demonstrate it.

He said one day, he was driving past a middle school and had just read a sign saying that the school was a "drug-free zone and there was a zero-tolerance policy." He looked past the sign, however, and said he then "saw a truck in the back dumping in tons of (psychotropic drug) Ritalin into the school."

Spreading the word is important

There is a lot wrong with "the way the system has been set up for us to play," Vera said, "but I think...with people like you (Robert Scott Bell), people like me, people who are not scared to talk and speak their mind who don't care if they get labeled 'crazy' or conspiracy theorists," word will eventually spread about the various health benefits of nutritious food and a drug-free life.

Bell and Vera agreed that the country is raising drug-induced generations, when nutrition to build bodies is a much better solution.

Vera said once he began researching nutrition, he eventually hired a professional nutritionist to help condition him and prepare him for his UFC matches.

"I now believe and understand when I see (people) talking about how 'food is medicine,' I get it now," Vera said. "When people say that, I understand what they mean when that comes up now."

As for the benefits of CBD and the endocannabinoid system, Bell said it helped his wife overcome a painful dental problem after trying other remedies, including, even, some medications, after two years of suffering. Vera added a story about watching a video in which a mother used some of the product on her son who was having multiple seizures, to good effect.

Later in the show Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, also appeared.
