Losing your job because of Obamacare is actually good for you, says Democrat lawmaker

by Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has announced that the equivalent of roughly 2 million full-time American workers will vanish from the U.S. economy by 2017 as a result of Obamacare, and one Democrat lawmaker from Minnesota says this is a good thing, because "American work too much anyway."

During a recent interview with ABC News' Jonathan Karl, Representative Keith Ellison confessed his view that millions of people losing their jobs is somehow a positive development for the American workforce. In Ellison's eyes, some Americans are not doing a very good job of balancing their work and personal lives, and need a little bit of prodding from the government.

"This is a good thing," Ellison, who is also a co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, is quoted as saying during a segment on ABC's This Week show. "We need a better work-life balance. Ask a working mother if she could use a few more hours in a day to take care of her family."

Touching and sentimental were the obvious emotions that Ellison was trying to invoke by sharing this absurd anecdote. But all that really came out of this lame excuse for an argument was a sense of unrealistic idealism - elitists like Ellison, after all, are not the ones who will have the unique "opportunity" to lose their jobs and be forced into early retirement.

"Any law you pass that discourages people from working can't be a good idea," countered Senator Roy Blunt, a Republican from Missouri, during a separate segment on Fox News Sunday. "How does that allow people to prepare for the time when they don't work?"

Democratic Senator Charles Schumer, from New York, apparently does not know the answer. He also recently told reporters that 2 million people losing their jobs or being coerced into quitting them is good for Americans.

"The single mom, who's raising three kids (and) has to keep a job because of healthcare, can now spend some time raising those kids," he told NBC's Meet the Press.

Obama regime incentivizing laziness at middle class expense

The takeaway from the report, and the Democrats' response to it, is that some Americans deserve to work less and get free handouts while others higher up on the socioeconomic strata foot the bill. It is everything that the Obama administration and others insisted it was not - socialism.

"We should all stay home, eat gubmmint-issued cheese, drink vodka and wait for a monthly handout of money created from nothing by the Fed or borrowed from China," jokes one Brietbart commenter, pointing out the absurdity of the scheme. "America would be so much better off."

All this "gubmmint-issued cheese" has to come from somewhere, of course, and commentators and others familiar with the intricacies of Obamacare say much of it will come from young, healthy, working, middle-class folks. In fact, the biggest loser under Obamacare is the collective working middle class, which the Kaiser Family Foundation admits will have to pay more for health insurance.

"Three million people who earn three to four times the federal poverty rate may have to pay up to 9.5 percent of their income toward health premiums before government subsidies kick in," writes Sandy Fitzgerald for Newsmax, citing a report published by USA Today. "The cost could mean a family of three earning $58,590 to $78,120 may be required to pay as much as $600 a month for Obamacare, and could decide health insurance is just too expensive."
