Climate mythologist Michael Mann tries to sue National Review for publishing an intelligent article
by Jonathan Benson, staff writer
(NaturalNews) The man responsible for creating the infamous "hockey stick" diagram that many in the global warming echo chamber claim serves as evidence that global warming is real has threatened to sue the National Review following the publishing of a scathing article written by one of the magazine's correspondents.
In case you missed it, his name is Michael Mann, and he is a professor of meteorology at Pennsylvania State University (PSU), the same school that covered up the crimes of its former presidents and assistant football coach, who were involved in a major child sex abuse scandal. Emails leaked back in 2012 exposed Mann as a fraud who essentially forged data to maintain the global warming ruse.
But Mann is angry that his reputation continues to be dragged through the mud, even though he was directly responsible for perpetuating one of the biggest deceptions that for years drove the climate change myth. A recent report by the National Review's Rich Lowry explains how Mann's lawsuit will only further indict the man in his scientific crimes, should he foolishly decide to go through with them.
"If Mann sues us, the materials we will need to mount a full defense will be extremely wide-ranging," writes Lowry. "So if he files a complaint, we will be doing more than fighting a nuisance lawsuit; we will be embarking on a journalistic project of great interest to us and our readers."
What Lowry speaks of concerns Mann's apparent infidelities in compiling and processing data on climate change. Based on what we already know, Mann massaged the numbers in such as a way as to validate the man-made global warming myth, constructing a graph that on the surface appeared to show increases in warming. But the graph was a total fraud.
"My advice to poor Michael is to go away and bother someone else," adds Lowry. "If he doesn't have the good sense to do that, we look forward to teaching him a thing or two about the law and about how free debate works in a free country."
Mann would be stupid to actually go through with suing the National Review
After the Mann scandal broke out back in 2009, PSU reportedly initiated its own internal investigation into the matter, which just so happens to have been conducted by some of the very same folks who were later dismissed for their involvement in the sex scandal. A real investigation into Mann's work, in other words, has never actually taken place.
Though he was (not surprisingly) vindicated by the school of any wrongdoing -- Mann brought in millions of dollars in grants for the school, so of course he was not going to be implicated in scientific misconduct -- the greater scientific community, not to mention the public at large, still has its doubts. Because of this, it would be utterly foolish of Mann to further agitate the situation with a lawsuit, which would only further expose the many other skeletons likely hiding in his closet.
"Mann could be said to be the Jerry Sandusky of climate science, except that instead of molesting children, he has molested and tortured data in the service of politicized science that could have dire economic consequences for the nation and planet," wrote Rand Simberg for OpenMarket.org back in 2012 about the ongoing scandal.
