Raw foods may help with urinary tract infections, acne, depression, IBS and more

by Antonia

(NaturalNews) Heather Bhagat was only three years old when she had bladder surgery. From there came a slew of persistent health issues, including chronic urinary tract infections (UTIs) - which she typically had once every month - severe acne, underweight problems and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). These issues plagued her for years, mostly during middle and high school. They not only negatively affected her body mentally and physically but, because of her waning self-esteem, caused friendships to fall by the wayside.

Taking control of her life with raw foods

"I was a miserable person," says Bhagat. "I lost friends . . . I felt gross . . . I was weak and depressed." Then she turned to a raw foods lifestyle which she's been on for three years and today looks back on her 95-pound former self in disbelief.

She also recalls the vicious cycle where doctors would prescribe pills for her UTIs, only to have the problem stop temporarily. When they'd recur, she was given more medication which then led to yeast infections that ultimately caused her to become sick.

But thanks to her raw food journey and healthy recipes which she details on her site, therawbuzz.com, she no longer has UTIs, is free of the acne that covered her face, arms and back and is a healthy 125 pounds. Bhagat is "happier and more alive," adding that eating raw foods transformed her "mind, entire being and lifestyle."

Raw food inspirations and key foods to cure UTI

She credits several health-minded resources for inspiring and jumpstarting her life of wellness, including the popular 30 Bananas a Day Diet and a documentary she watched about the Gerson Diet, which explored the raw food-cancer prevention connection.

Suggested raw foods that are said to help in clearing up UTIs include:

It's estimated that, in the United States, UTIs account for almost seven million medical office visits and one million emergency room visits per year. Consuming raw foods may help restore balance to the body and may help reduce or cure illnesses and infections, including UTIs.
