Avoid cancer with these lifestyle habits
by Sandeep Godiyal
(NaturalNews) Cancer is one of the deadliest and most feared diseases of people all over the world these days. Twelve million individuals living in America alone were diagnosed with this disease in 2008. Five years later, more than 1.6 million new cases were diagnosed. A few of the known ways to prevent cancer is to consume natural foods such as vegetables daily, exercise frequently but never extremely and quit smoking.
There are also other lifestyle habits people should know of to avoid cancer which this article shall enumerate.
People should never panic about acquiring cancer.
Although the rate of this disease has been constant in the last fifty years, it is not an indication that a cancer epidemic is present.
It is advisable never to overeat, because this encourages growth of tumors, which grow a lot faster than normal cells.
These tumors need much more energy in order to take in nutrients, divide faster and grow than the regular, healthy cells. A healthy diet can prevent tumors and cancer; thus, one should eat adequately and never more than one needs. One should limit their intake of calories and proteins. After smoking, being obese is the next leading reason which contributes to cancer rates.
Red meat should be avoided, because this kind of food encourages growth of tumors.
This is because it has natural glycoproteins which provoke persistent inflammation in the tissues, and it needs to be cooked at high temperatures.
Consuming too many carbohydrates can also lead to unceasing inflammation which persuades growth of tumors.
Many studies have linked high intake of carbohydrates to metabolic risks. One study in Denmark says a diet low in glycemic load that is low in cereals and potatoes and high in fruits and dairy is linked to better lipid metabolism and insulin sensitivity and lower chronic inflammation.
A person should never fret about consuming organic food.
It is believed that tumors grow when people consume produce grown conventionally, as they have harmful fumigation and pesticides. This is true for those who consume them in large quantities. There is actually no proof that food contaminated with pesticides has given cancer to a person.
Supplements like selenium are said to protect people from prostate cancer as claimed by a medical guide.
Further study on this, however, is needed. Other research studies say calcium supplements can protect one from the growth of colorectal cancer and large colon polyps. Recent studies also say that there is proof that calcium can stop colorectal cancer from occurring.
Another way to prevent cancer is to practice safe sex and stay away from toxic places.
Exposure to toxic environments can lead to the development of malignancies like lung cancer and mesothelioma, anal cancer, throat cancer, cervical cancer and leukemia.
It is important to get screened sometimes for cancer.
Every three years, women who are between 21 to 29 years old should get tested for cervical cancer. Those who have not smoked do not have to test for lung cancer. Every other year, women who are above 50 years old are recommended to get mammograms.
People should not be afraid of a cancer epidemic, as there is no such thing. Cancer can be avoided as long as people practice healthy lifestyle habits.
