The mind-blowing secret that keeps both fitness and junk food industries in business

by Mike Bundrant

(NaturalNews) I wasn't expecting to be let in on a dirty little industry secret.

I was just shooting the breeze with a manager of the large, local fitness center where I work out five days a week.

It seems that fitness centers are counting on members failing to achieve their fitness goals. In fact, they bank on it.

How is this the case?

The manager said, "Fitness centers make their money on the people who don't show up. In fact, if all our members were to attend regularly, we'd shut down. We couldn't accommodate everyone. This is why membership contracts are necessary."

He continued, "So, we price our membership low enough that it flies under the radar of the average person's monthly budget. However, even with more expensive personal training contracts costing hundreds of dollars per month, people still don't show up, but they still have to pay."

The vast majority of people who commit to a fitness program abandon it within the first couple of weeks.

This is so predictable that fitness centers cash in on this statistic by signing up many more people than they could possibly handle if their members actually followed through on their goals.

None of this is a huge surprise to me, other than the fact the fitness centers are banking on their members' self-sabotage. If no one sabotaged their own success, many fitness centers wouldn't be in business.

Interestingly, the staff at the gym where my wife and I work out are very supportive, encouraging and helpful. The personal trainers are skilled and dedicated. The people who work there really do want us to succeed.

In the big picture, however, those running the show seem to understand human nature. Self-sabotage is pervasive, so much so that they stake their financial viability on it.

Are you paying the fat tax?

Are you one of the many who make regular donations to the fitness industry without taking advantage of their services? A comedian once remarked that when he failed to show up at the gym, he didn't bother canceling his membership. He was so upset at himself that he considered his membership dues a monthly fat tax!

Fat levies more taxes than lost membership fees. We all know of the diseases and shortened life span caused by obesity. Amazingly, in a self-sabotaging frame of mind, we don't care. In fact, we want all the negativity and self-punishment. We nearly cherish it.

This is the heart of self-sabotage, the oh-so predictable, universal phenomenon that is money in the bank for so many industries, including the junk food industry, fast food industry, alcohol and tobacco industries and more.

People seem to want to hurt themselves and revel in the misery.

If it is time for this trend to end in your life, you must learn the deep nature of self-sabotage and put a stop to it. Begin with this free video that explains how it all works.
