Body fat: Turn an enemy into a friend with a new definition

by Zach Calantini-Miller

(NaturalNews) There are so many people around the globe trying to lose weight at this very moment. It is a global pastime. Ironically, although many people desire to lose weight, not many people actually even know what the extra weight is. They just want to get rid of it.

In order to quit "striving" to lose weight and to stop struggling with the process, one must find a new, more positive definition of body fat. Finding a new way to define it and think about it will aid in the process of purging the body of unnatural, unnecessary body extra mass.

What body (adipose) fat is is essentially stored energy. The body stores this extra fat to keep you alive in the event that there is no food source available, as well as for insulating the body, cushioning the body and organs, the regulation of body temperature, the reduction of inflammation, brain development, and blood clotting. However, the body's mechanism can get out of balance and be detrimental to social fashion trends and, if the body fat level is too high, it becomes a health concern.

Turn an enemy into a friend

Defining body fat in our minds as "stored energy" yields some important benefits. First of all, if you think about it in this way, you can simply use that energy for productive ends. Simply use that extra energy to clean your apartment or car or some other worthwhile project, or just take a walk. Change your mindset from "losing weight" to "using it." This turns a negative situation into a positive, and a positive attitude will help you lose weight further. As with a lot of things, attitude and perception makes all the difference. While this sounds simple, it really works.

Re-defining fat will really free up your mind to focus on more important matters. Simply "using" fat instead of turning it into an enemy can vastly improve your quality of life. A simple re-framing of old concepts of weight loss is a powerful tool for healthy concepts about body image and health. As it has been said famously, "What you resist, persists." So stop resisting, and start utilizing.
