Moronic psychiatric researchers claim a diagnosis of depression, anxiety or ADHD will help you graduate from college

by Mike Bundrant

(NaturalNews) Students who enter college with their formal diagnoses of mental illness in place are more likely to graduate without interruption, according to psychiatric researchers.

Sound reasonable? So, rush your high school kid off to the psychiatrist! His future is at stake. Who wants to be the parents of a college dropout?

This is the logic promoted in psychiatric circles today. Step right up! Get your diagnosis and guarantee your success in life!

Here is the actual conclusion, based on a study published in Psychiatric Services in Advance

Conclusion from the research abstract:

Students who experience depressive symptoms or seek treatment for depression during college might be at risk of interruptions in their college enrollment. Cannabis use and heavy drinking appear to add to this risk. Students entering college with preexisting psychiatric diagnoses are not necessarily at risk of enrollment interruptions.

This is excellent branding of the benefits of being diagnosed mentally ill.

Essentially, the research suggests that people who get depressed or encounter emotional difficulties during college are more likely to drop out. People who enter college having experienced emotional difficulties in the past are less likely to drop out.

How is this news - and why on earth should we be twisting this into propaganda that motivates people to go and claim their diagnosis?

The unspoken motivation - drug more people

All this talk of diagnosis only points to one thing - the treatment. Psychiatric researchers allude to treatment and getting symptoms under control and mental health services, etc...but they rarely come right out and say it. They want to prescribe more drugs to more people of more ages in more niches, more often.

There is nothing emotionally healing about a diagnosis. It is merely a means to an end - to sell drugs.
