Seven tips to create the life of your dreams in a nightmarish world
by Mike Bundrant
(NaturalNews) In a world gone mad, there are those among us who still believe in an ideal - that you can live out your individual dreams.
Yes, there are forces in the world that are hell bent on squashing individuality and the very dreams that keep your mind alive.
Yes, there are forces within you that are hell bent on squashing your dreams, too. We've got to deal with these and we absolutely can.
Here are seven ideas to get your mind going in the right direction:
1. Face reality
We live in a world at odds with itself. There are individuals who shoot, stab, kill and maim. There are governments who would steal everyone's freedom in the name of "protection." There are businesses that lie and steal and destroy the environment. We don't govern ourselves well. We don't respect ourselves enough to live without police, who, in turn, do not necessarily respect us either. It's a mess.
Should you bury your head in the sand and pretend the problems don't exist? Hardly. Instead, face them. Prepare for the worst. Learn to protect yourself and become self-reliant. Then, you'll have the confidence to live in the real world and even change it for the better.
2. Dream anyway
Should harsh reality prevent you from dreaming of the good life and making it happen for yourself? No! In fact, it is more important than ever that you do so. If you give up and give in, you become part of the problem that is dragging the world down.
Respect your dreams of the good life. Write them down. Get realistic with them and allow yourself to believe they are possible in the real world. Turning dreams into reality is one of the greatest joys in life. Don't deprive yourself!
3. Get specific
Ask the right questions about your dreams to turn them into goals. What do you want, specifically? What will be your evidence of success? What resources do you lack to get there and how will you acquire those resources? What is your first step? This is where tools like NLP shine - asking the right questions puts you in a position to succeed.
4. Support individualism
The individual is the fundamental unit in society. Families, communities and nations are made up of individuals. Respect for the individual is the hallmark of a healthy family and a fair society. Without individual rights, no one is safe.
Do you really want to turn your rights over to a collective of people who do not support individual freedom? This undermines the very foundation of your identity. Support politicians and movements that stand for individual liberty.
5. Stop self-sabotage
The number one issue in the way of your success in life is self-sabotage. A lack of self-discipline, not following through, not taking care of yourself, not knowing what you want - these are all forms of self-sabotage.
You need to learn about self-sabotage, what it is and how to stop it. When you get beyond self-sabotage, you simply do what you want to do without getting in your own way. Imagine living with a super high level of self-discipline. Over a period of weeks, months and years, this is what allows you to create an extraordinary life. Hard work, over time, without getting in your own way - that's the stuff of success.
We are all connected and interdependent. In fact, it is impossible to reach individual maturity without the ability to stand in another's perspective and imagine how he or she must be feeling. Immature people cannot (or will not) do empathy. Mature people consider others from their perspective.
If you want to live your dreams, learn relationship skills. You won't get far without them.
7. Free your inner beast
Given all that is going on in the world today, good people are angry. With so much chaos, destruction and injustice, how can a good person not be deeply resentful?
The key is to turn that anger into determination, not victimization. Let your anger be the nuclear energy that makes you vow to create a world where people want to belong. Create that world among those closest to you, then begin to branch out. Let your deep anger motivate you to start a revolution - every single day.
