Rogue cop seriously injures 10-year-old boy with taser for refusing to wash patrol car
by Ethan A. Huff, staff writer
(NaturalNews) A recent career day at Tularosa Intermediate School in Tularosa, New Mexico, turned into chaotic day for a 10-year-old boy who says a local police officer shot him with a high-voltage taser gun after he refused to wash the officer's patrol car. According to a lawsuit filed by the boy's court-appointed guardian, New Mexico Motor Transportation Officer Chris Webb recklessly withdrew his weapon and fired it at the boy in an apparent act of anger and frustration which, based on the boy's size and age, could have killed him.
The incident took place on May 4, 2012, when Webb approached a school playground where the boy, who is being referred to as R.D. to preserve his anonymity, was playing with a group of other boys. Officer Webb allegedly asked the boys who among them would like to wash his patrol car, and every boy except for R.D. raised his hand in affirmation, according to the court filing.
R.D. reportedly raised his hand in a joking manner to refuse Officer Webb's petition, which allegedly prompted the so-called public servant to literally lash out with violence against the child. Within seconds of declining the officer's proposal, R.D. was pelted with two barbs delivering 50,000 volts directly into his chest, which left serious scars that resemble cigarette burns.
"Defendant Webb responded by pointing his Taser at R.D. and saying, 'Let me show you what happens to people who do not listen to the police,'" states the complaint about the shocking incident. "Both barbs penetrated the boy's shirt, causing the device to deliver 50,000 volts into the boy's body. Instead of calling emergency medical personnel, Officer Webb pulled out the barbs and took the boy to the school principal's office."
Young boy suffers PTSD symptoms after being assaulted by Officer Webb
Not only was R.D. denied emergency medical care following the incident, but he also suffered serious injuries that have left him with potentially permanent emotional scars. Rachel Higgins, the guardian ad litem assigned to represent R.D. in the case, says the young boy now suffers symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and often wakes up in the middle of the night holding his chest and heart area and expressing fears about "never waking up again."
Officer Webb claims a much different side of the story, of course, having alleged in a police report that his taser gun accidentally discharged when he pulled it out to show the group of boys what it looked like, which he says was the result of a malfunction. But an official public record on the gun's usage indicates that the taser was discharged as normal, and that it had not malfunctioned, which suggests Officer Webb is clearly lying about what took place.
"Officer Michael Walker generated a Taser X26 report showing that the Taser had no problems with its battery, that it fired correctly, and that it did not deploy when shaken from side to side," said Sharon Kennedy, R.D.'s family attorney.
Officer Webb is being charged with battery, failure to render emergency medical care, excessive force, and unreasonable seizure. R.D.'s family is also seeking damage from the New Mexico Motor Transportation Police Department for negligent hiring, training, supervision, and retention.
