Batman actor Christian Bale visits Aurora shooting victims
by Simon Victor
(NaturalNews) In the midst of the Aurora shooting tragedy, the 'Dark Knight' has risen to the occasion. Christian Bale has visited victims of the brutal shooting that took place at the Century 16 cinema theater in Aurora, Colorado, during a screening of the latest Batman film in which he stars in, 'The Dark Knight Rises.'
The tragedy that occurred last week was committed by James Holmes. Holmes entered the theater during the showing of the film decked in tactical combat gear and weaponry, and with his hair dyed bright orange. He proceeded to shell the room indiscriminately, killing 12 patrons and injuring 58 more.
Now in true hero fashion, Christian Bale, the actor who plays Batman in the summer flick personally visited some of the survivors in hospital. Bale spent two hours in the hospital with survivors at the medical center in Aurora, and spoke with survivors while also posing for pictures. He also met with law enforcement officials and emergency personnel who responded to the tragedy that took place at the screening.
When learning of the shooting, the film's director, Christopher Nolan, released a statement on behalf of the actors and crew. According to ABC News, Nolan said in a statement released by his publicist, "Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of 'The Dark Knight Rises,' I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community." Nolan further stated, "Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."
Anne Hathaway, another actor in the movie also showed her support by saying, "My heart aches and breaks for the lives taken and altered by this unfathomably senseless act."
Yet, what is most heartwarming about the show of support by Christian Bale is the fact that this visit is of a personal nature, and not on the behalf of any company. In a statement given to the Daily Mail by an assistant for Susan Fleishman, Executive Vice President for Warner Brothers corporate communications, it was revealed that "Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers," the studio that is responsible for the film.
As the families affected mourn the loss of loved ones in this brutal and unthinkable act, it is good to know that the such high profile personalities can show their own humanity by reaching out and showing support during such a difficult.
