Japanese scientists invent anti-free speech sound cannon device capable of silencing a person mid-sentence

(NaturalNews) In the apparent interest of further controlling the world's populations, a team of Japanese scientists from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and Ochanomizu University in Japan has developed a new sound weapon that they say effectively silences a person mid-sentence when pointed and fired. According to a report by My Fox Orlando, the portable device, known as "SpeechJammer," records a person's speech and quickly fires it back at them with a 0.2-second delay, which confuses the brain and shuts down speech.
The technology is known as "Delayed Auditory Feedback," and is similar to what is sometimes experienced by mobile phone or Skype users, for instance, when the person speaking hears his voice echoed back at him. Except with the SpeechJammer, the echo delay is a lot shorter, which effectively disrupts the brain's speech processing patterns and leaves the victim in a state of verbal confusion.
"In general, human speech is jammed by giving back to the speakers their own utterances at a delay of a few hundred milliseconds," wrote Kazutaka Kurihara and Koji Tsukada, the creators of the device, in a research paper. "This effect can disturb people without any physical discomfort, and disappears immediately by stopping speaking."
According to its creators, the device will be most useful in public places to silence people who are too loud, or in libraries where noisy chatters are obstructing the peace. But in reality, we all know such a device is more than likely intended to be used by the burgeoning police state to destroy free speech and keep the population in line, as most ordinary people are not going to carry this around in public.
Interestingly, sound weapons are becoming the new weapon of choice for controlling crowds during police state demonstrations. Demonstrators on a college campus, protesters of an injustice, marches for a cause -- these and many other beacons of free speech in action will quickly fade into the annals of history books should a device like the SpeechJammer ever make it into the hands of police forces or potentially even a domestic military presence.
