TSA-style full body pat-downs coming to an NFL stadium near you
by Jonathan Benson, staff writer
(NaturalNews) It is something that we here at NaturalNews have repeatedly warned our readers was coming, and that is now unfolding right before our eyes. In seeming accordance with the US Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) total human control and monitoring agenda, the US National Football League (NFL) has announced that, effective immediately, all football game attendees will be subjected to full-body "enhanced" pat down upon entering NFL stadiums.
According to USA Today, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy announced just days after the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks that NFL officials had instructed all 32 of the league's stadium franchises nationwide to perform "enhanced" pat-down procedures on fans, which are similar to what the US Transportation Security (TSA) performs on travelers at airports. The new procedures involve frisking fans from the ankles to the knees, as well as from the waist and above.
"The enhanced security procedures recommended by our office before the start of the season will further increase the safety of fans but will require some additional time," said McCarthy to USA Today in a recent statement. "We encourage fans to come early, enjoy their tailgating tradition, and be patient as they enter the stadium."
Though the new protocols are not an official product of DHS or TSA, they are eerily similar to the agency's previously announced plans for its "VIPR" (Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response) teams, whose purpose is to establish security checkpoints at train and bus stations, sports stadiums, and even public roadways (http://www.naturalnews.com/032778_TSA_gropin...).
The entire stunt, despite being shrouded in the typical rhetoric about "security" and "safety," represents just one more incremental assault against individual freedom, particularly as it pertains to individual travel and movement without unreasonable search and seizure. It also tests the waters just a little bit more to see how the public responds to the invasive violation of their personal privacy.
Attending NFL football games and going through security is, of course, optional -- nobody is forced to enter an NFL stadium, after all! So perhaps it is time for concerned NFL fans everywhere take a stand against the league's egregious new protocols, and initiate a formal boycott.
