How to lose weight successfully
by Mohamed Caffoor
(NaturalNews) Most people go on diets with the sole purpose of losing the extra pounds they have put on over the years. Many are successful in their quest but around half end up either putting it all back on or gaining even more. This can have health consequences such as doubling the risk of death through heart disease, if you follow what is commonly known as a yo-yo diet. So what is the best way to lose weight and keep it there? Well avoiding (or at least minimizing to twice a week) what can be called the POWS group of foods is a very good start, and exercise is important of course.
The POWS group of foods are:
P: processed foods - anything processed, not in its natural form. For example, meat products, all types of meat, take away and fast foods etc
O: Oily Foods, any food that is made by frying or has an excessive amount of oil as in some curries.
W: Whites such as white bread, white rice etc. White flour is void of any minerals and nutrients and is a simple carbohydrate, so it converts to sugars very quickly and finally
S: Sugars including artificial sugars. If you need any sweetener, try and use the natural ones like Stevia, Agave Nectar syrup, Dates etc.
A little experiment you could try is this: completely avoid all that is mentioned above for just three weeks. Assuming you are not diabetic or have other major health issues where certain foods could affect your health, become a vegan. Replace the white rice and bread with brown or red rice and wholegrain brown bread. Replace the butter or margarine with a plant based product etc and avoid any product that has sugar in it. (Note that some breads have sugar added to them, so you need to avoid this).
The result: you should lose weight at the rate of 1-2 lbs per week without doing any exercise. Exercise and you will probably lose more. So what does this tell us? It tells us that our foods are so full of chemicals that our body cannot handle it anymore and as a result we get a weakened immune system and fall ill easily.
Last month, fire fighters from the A shift Bethesda Fire station went on a 28 day vegan diet. All lost weight and some commented on how much more energetic they became. Oprah Winfrey, too, has tried the vegan diet along with some of her employees.
