Obama: Criticizing public employees violates their rights

by Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) At a recent gathering of US governors in Washington, DC, President Obama castigated those who he says are violating the "rights" of public employees by criticizing them. After affirming notions that government spending cuts are necessary, at least as they concern low-level government employees, Obama openly chastised those who dare to speak out against the nation's "public servants."

Presumably a denouncement of those critical of the Wisconsin Democrats who decided to flee the state in order to avoid having to vote on Gov. Scott Walker's budget proposal, Obama's dubious statements may also apply to those opposed to the pro-union protests in general. Regardless, the statements send the chilling notion that speaking out against government abuse and excess is a violation of "rights," even though the rights of all Americans are violated each and every day by these supposed public servants.

On the contrary, speaking out against government fraud and those that participate in it is an exercise of the First Amendment to the US Constitution, which happens to guarantee freedom of speech. Whether coming from the mouth of a Democrat or a Republican, statements like Obama's that associate free speech with violation rights are both dangerous and a serious threat to American freedom.

And while Obama is quick to defend the supposed "rights" of public officials, he has remained silent on the rights of individuals who do not work for the government. His policies, including the recent deregulation of GM alfalfa for instance, are a direct slap in the face to the legitimate rights of all Americans to obtain clean, unadulterated food (http://www.naturalnews.com/031196_GE_alfalfa...).

Then, there are the constant raids by Obama's US Food and Drug Administration against raw milk farmers and other producers who are independent of the centralized food system. Where is his concern over their rights? And what about the rights of airline travelers who must now undergo a gross and invasive violation of their privacy when proceeding through the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security line to walk through the naked body scanner and be molested with a full-body pat down?

When it comes to defending "rights," the Obama administration is only concerned about the rights of some, rather than the rights of all. Obamacare is a perfect illustration of how the administration perceives "rights," as special exemptions have been made for public officials, insiders, and others who have been granted immunity from having their rights violated by its unconstitutional provisions.
