Remedies and Treatments: Keep the Natural Balance

by Todd Mumford

(NaturalNews) The concept of the balance of nature is very old and once ruled ecological research as well as governed the management of natural resources. When we talk about the natural balance of nature's remedies and treatments, we mean the interaction between the two. For every condition, there is a natural remedy. The two go hand in hand.

These nature's remedies have been passed down throughout the generations. Natural herbs, fruits and essential oils used in our diet, in supplements and as specific treatments are rapidly gaining the attention of consumers as they search for nature's remedies without the risk of side effects. These natural remedies are simple, inexpensive and chemical-free plus there is added pleasure and satisfaction in being able to treat and even cure yourself!

People worldwide are rejecting the notion that expensive, synthetic, chemical and prescription medications are the only answer to our medical issues and treatment for our ailments. They are starting to grasp and utilize the notion that natural remedies and home treatments will sort out many common problems. It has even reached the point where the traditional medical community is beginning to look at how the conventional medical field could be enhanced by alternative practices.

Interest in natural remedies and treatments has increased to such an extent in the past decade that some 38% of American adults use some form of complementary or alternative medicine and worldwide the numbers are even higher. It is thought that the "baby boom" generation is partly responsible for this shift as they search for a more holistic approach to health care when their ailments become more chronic. Some of the conditions for which they seek natural remedies are arthritis, headaches, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, anxiety and depression. The downside of this is that they are often reluctant to tell their doctor so there may be a drug-herb interaction in some cases.

Natural or nature's remedies and treatment often involve the natural methods or ways to treat as were done in the past. This type of natural treatment avoids the conventional medicine that is used in various treatments done today. However, many natural remedy companies have spent a lot of time and resources in research, resulting in improved original methods but without compromising the natural ingredients.

Ellen G White was an influential author and worker in the field of health and natural healing in the 19th century. She wrote: "Drugs never cure disease; they only change its form and location. When drugs are introduced into the system, for a time they seem to have a beneficial effect. A change may take place, but the disease is not cured. It will manifest itself in some other form. The disease which the drug was given to cure may disappear, but only to reappear in a new form, such as skin diseases, ulcers, painful diseased joints, and sometimes in a more dangerous and deadly form. Nature keeps struggling, and the patient suffers with different ailments, until there is a sudden breaking down in her efforts, and death follows." - How to Live, 60.

Her words are just as true in the 21st century.

We can only hope that the growth in the use of nature's remedies and treatments increases to such an extent that this alternative form of medicine will become a part of mainstream medicine to the benefit of all. Along with an improvement in the diet of Americans, this would provide a win/win balance to our healthcare system.
