Vitamin C Provides Powerful Health Benefits

(NaturalNews) Vitamin C has always been claimed to be an essential nutrient for overall health and well being. Humans are not able to produce this vitamin themselves and it is therefore recommended that we take a supplement, or eat 5 servings of fruit and vegetables daily, to ensure the correct dosage. Recent research conducted by the Linus Pauling Institute has discovered breakthrough evidence that Vitamin C has a positive effect in the prevention of heart disease and cancer.
Research has linked an adequate intake of Vitamin C with powerful health benefits: such as brain function and mood, creation of collagen and neurotransmitters, reduction in cholesterol and gallstones, conversion of fat to energy and lowering the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer. Vitmain C has been widely acclaimed as an antioxidant and protector of cells from oxidative damage.
Linus Pauling, founder of the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University, has dedicated his research to Vitamin C and its related health benefits. He began this research in 1966 and was the first to identify this vitamin as a cure for the common cold.

The effect of Vitamin C on fat metabolism, whereby the vitamin creates a reaction, that inadvertently neutralizes toxic by-products, has been another discovery. Assistant Professor, Fred Stevens, for the Linus Pauling Institute, has referred to this discovery as previously being underestimated and unrecognised as a function of Vitamin C and its relation to powerful health benefits. Stevens assures us it is now clear how Vitamin C can play a metabolic role within the body to react with toxic lipids to protect from the negative impact of geno toxins.
The study of toxic lipids and oxidation of these lipids has been at the forefront of research in recent years. This is due to the vitamins' effects on possibly treating diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
The Linus Pauling Institute in conjunction with Oregon State University is looking to continue research on the reaction of Vitamin C with toxic lipids to further qualify the powerful health benefits of Vitamin C in humans.
