Fountain of Youth World Summit Excerpt with Dr. Carol Look, EFT Master and Abundance Expert
Kevin: EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques is an incredible time saver to help clear emotional or physical blocks, but how much time should people commit to something like this? Does it really take a lot of time?
Carol: Well, I say to people, it's about self care, and if you don't spend time exercising, eating properly, sleeping, doing EFT, doing self care measures in your life, then you have no say; you know, don't complain to me. And that sentence goes for me too.
When I get exhausted because I haven't put any time aside for myself, who's fault is it?
It's mine. I'm not saying "no" to another client, or I'm taking home something too much. So the time - I recommend people do this between 15 minutes and 30 minutes a day.
And people say, 'Oh, I can't. I don't have 30 minutes.' Okay. Then do it for ten. Do it for ten, Twice a day, if you possibly can.
I don't have ten minutes. Well, then why did you come to me? What do you expect? I don't have a magic wand; I have the most magic bullet available, which is a technique that I can teach people to use on themselves, and really help them feel better. But if you don't do it, I can't, I really, I can't make you do it.
Kevin: Right.
Carol: And that's another sabotage feature, by the way. I think a lot of your listeners are caught up in sabotaging. That's what I know people come to my teleclasses for. They have so many beautiful, intricate ways to sabotage themselves. Well, what's underneath sabotage? Fear. They don't want to be successful. I don't know how to maintain the money if I make it. If I'm in another relationship, maybe I'll mess that one up too. We're very human, and once you see what the pattern is, then you can change it with EFT. That's what's so incredible about it.
Now, some people come to me and they say, 'I have this problem for 20 years. Can I fix it in one session?' I don't know.
Have problems been fixed in one session? Yes they have and it's shocking. But many times it takes consistent work with EFT. But it takes a lot shorter, much less time with EFT than it does with other traditional therapies that I've witness and seen and been a part of that field.
Kevin: Wow. This absolutely has the power to change people's lives.
Carol: Because you change your vibration.
Kevin: Yeah.
Carol: It's all about vibration.
Kevin: Hmm.
Carol: It's not about outside, it's not about your ex. You know, someone came to me and said, 'Oh, it's all my ex-husbands fault.' You know what? No it's not. It's about your vibration. And it's not even about fault. Change your vibration and you don't start attracting people like him. Change your vibration, I've done classes and workshops with people, where that evening, they go home and they get a phone call about a business opportunity that blows them away. Why? Because we changed their vibration during the day.
So things can happen instantaneously. And I've absolutely seen them happen that way. Or sometimes it takes more time, many layers. But energetically, this is what I really want people to hear. It's about our energy and our vibration, not what we do.
If you're inspired and your energy is lined up and your vibration is clean and clear and excited and grateful, your life will change.
Kevin: That's pretty empowering.
Carol: Yes. Yes. And which is why I love it so much. I don't want people dependent on me. I want to give people these tools.
Kevin: Right.
Carol: We just had 250 people out in Dallas, teaching this, I mean I was part of a teaching team, and some of them were in tears. They were like, 'Oh, my God! Where has this been all my life? Where has a tool that I can use to help myself feel independent and empowered and excited and back to loving myself, where has this tool been?'
And you know, even to your first question, when you said, 'why hasn't it been taken to the general public?' It is; we're getting it there. We're working on it. And calls like this and summits like this are really getting EFT out there, so I appreciate that.
Kevin: Yeah. Absolutely. So what I want to ask you is, what experiences, with EFT, have changed your practice? The way that you practice EFT?
Carol: Really I would say, the experience of watching a client be so moved by the changes that are happening inside of them.
Kevin: Okay.
Carol: Watching clients finally feel accepting of themselves, instead of so critical. And you know, when I'm super focused, you have to be really focused when you do EFT. You really have to tune into your client. And when my clients feel respected and cared for and we're in it together, it's like I'm a coach here with them and the two of us are working together, there's just something very profound about that. Very peaceful and really very beautiful about that teamwork.
And when someone feels less critical and more loving of themselves and able to have a little bit of a sense of humor, and they use EFT and they realize that they are, and can be empowered, I mean, it's worth zillions of dollars. That's what makes me tick. That's what gets me up in the morning, is helping people help themselves and feel so excited and inspired.
When I see other people become inspired and realize how talented they are, realize how incredible they are, instead of putting themselves down and saying, "I'm not good enough, and I don't deserve this", I mean, when I see the switch with EFT, everything changes for me.
Kevin: Right. What are some of the things that you do on a regular basis for optimal health? I would venture to guess that EFT's one of them.
Carol: Yes.
Kevin: But what, you know, including EFT, maybe what are some of the things that you think about when you think of EFT? And then what are some of the other things that you do to keep your health?
Carol: EFT is what I do. One of the things I do.
Kevin: Um hmm.
Carol: I also do Chi Gong. I started a Chi Gong practice and it is exceptional, and I think it's really changing my entire, I think it's changing my life. With EFT and Chi Gong. And I do meditation.
Kevin: Uh huh.
Carol: Because there's so much agitation in the world and you know, my clients come in and they talk about their problems, and I'm on the computer and I'm writing emails. And you know, there's a whole lot going on in our lives. And if I don't have some peace and quiet, I can feel it. You know, I first start to get weak in my throat, I start to get fevery when I'm overtired.
I get a fever. And then I feel like I have to go to bed early and I have to, you know, take care of myself. So I now don't wait until that point.
You know I've now been able to catch myself and say, 'If I'm not taking care of myself, what kind of modeling is that for other people?' So I do my writing. I do my Chi Gong. I do my EFT. And I do meditation.
Kevin: Okay. And do you read papers, newspapers? And stay with mainstream culture, or do you kind of stay away from that?
Carol: I do, but it's gotten, it's taking up much less time in my life. I do watch the news once a day. I used to watch it continuously.
I don't know why. It was an anxiety of not being informed in what's going on and what's happening out there. I just need to know a little bit about what's going on and now I'm able to leave it. And it's very powerful for my system.
Kevin: Yeah.
Carol: I know it's going on. I'm doing what I can to contribute to help, which is not much.
Kevin: Um hmm.
Carol: Right? You know, I'm doing what I can. And then I've got to drop it.
Same way with other people's problems and other people's stress. Stress is really, you know, a stubbornness and an unwillingness to believe that things are as they are. Things are as they are. You can't change them. And it's a profound shift in your mental energy when you realize it's time to stop trying to change other people in outside circumstances and do the work on yourself. Right?
Health and youth is an inside job. Integrity is an inside job. All these people talk about integrity and they're yelling about other people's lack of integrity. Get off the subject! Focus on your own life. How are you doing with your family members? How are you doing with your colleagues? How are you doing with your clients? How are you doing with your integrity with your own word to yourself?
So when you say, 'I'm going to do EFT everyday.' Or, 'I'm going to meditate.' Or, 'I'm going to exercise.' Did I put exercise in there? I meant to say exercise, it's another thing I do.
Kevin: Um hmm.
Carol: When you say that and then you don't do it for four days, you know, what does that mean to you about your word to yourself and your commitment and your inspiration?
Kevin: Right. Hmm. There's a lot to be said about that. What do you do to address non-commitment?
Carol: I always ask them my favorite question. What's the down side of following through for yourself? What's the down side of not following through? And they'll come up with it immediately.
Kevin: So, say it's not exercise. You'd ask, you know, what's the down side about not following through with that?
Carol: Well, someone might say; or put it the other way. What's the up side for you? How does it serve you to sabotage yourself with your exercise program? And they might say, 'I'm afraid to lose the weight.' They might say, 'I don't really deserve it.' They might say, 'I'm afraid my friends are going to be jealous if I fit into whatever clothes.' You know, I'm not sure, each person is different. The point is, when you say to someone, 'How is it serving you to sabotaging yourself? Or what's the down side of getting over this problem?' They'll be able to come up with it. So what's the downside? You know, sometimes people say, 'Well, I won't have any more excuses. If I'm successful, and I do go to the gym, 3, 4, 5 days a week and I do eat in healthy fashion and I go to bed early and I take care of myself, then what's my excuse? Or what can I complain about?'
A lot of people in a habit of complaining and insulting themselves or insulting other people. And it's really a negative energy, but it's a habit that fills them up.
