It's not only convenient and very effective, it's also a big time saver, I discovered. It brushes six surfaces at the same time, essentially. When you bite down on the brush head, it is brushing the inside, top side, and outside surfaces on both the top and bottom teeth -- so that's a total of six surfaces. Ordinarily, when you are using a typical toothbrush -- even if it's motorized -- you're only brushing one or two surfaces at a time. The HydraBrush saves a considerable amount of time, or if you choose to spend the same amount of time brushing, it gives you six times as much brushing.
Since most people actually don't spend enough time brushing their teeth -- that is, they end the brushing too soon -- this HydraBrush device may actually work to improve dental health by increasing the total effectiveness of the brushing even without increasing the time spent brushing.
Another thing I really like about the HydraBrush is that it massages the gums in a way that goes far beyond toothbrushing. It's also different than dental flossing, although the HydraBrush is not a replacement for dental floss. It is, however, a great gum stimulator and I've already noticed an improvement in my gum health after using the HydraBrush device. The gum stimulation is just aggressive enough to really build up your gums and reduce their sensitivity to flossing or other forms of stimulation.
You can also adjust the aggressiveness of the brush by adjusting your bite on the HydraBrush dual heads. The harder you bite down, the more aggressive the gum massage gets. Personally, I know the HydraBrush is a great gum stimulator -- because even though I have good dental health and I floss regularly, my gums bled slightly the first time I used the HydraBrush. Not in any kind of a painful way, but just enough to let me know that I still have room for improvement in my gum sensitivity. But then, the next time I used the HydraBrush, there was no bleeding at all -- and after using it routinely for several weeks now, my gums have greatly improved their health and appearance.
The HydraBrush is also a good device because it is sure to cover the areas that you might forget to reach during manual brushing. Since the HydraBrush is covering six surfaces at once, as long as you physically move it around the entire perimeter of your mouth, you're sure to cover every area that needs brushing. This is not true with manual brushing, where mistakes and poor brushing habits can sometimes cause us to miss certain areas that need brushing.
The HydraBrush is also available in an advanced model that incorporates water jets that further massage the gums and help clean out food matter that might be lodged between teeth. I have not tried that model, so I can't comment on it, but even without that water jet function, this device seems quite impressive all by itself.
I haven't really been excited about very many dental devices before. The Sonicare product was never really that impressive to me, because all it did was vibrate really fast. It really wasn't a breakthrough in dental care as far as I was concerned, and now there are $4 vibrating toothbrushes you can buy at Wal-Mart that do much the same thing, in my view. But the HydraBrush product is a completely new approach to dental care. It is a quantum leap over Sonicare or any other vibrating head product on the market today, in my opinion.
It's also convenient to use -- just charge it up and then you can use it like any portable toothbrush. The handle of the HydraBrush is larger than a typical toothbrush handle, but it's not so large that you can't comfortably use it. In fact, in some ways, it's easier to grip than a smaller toothbrush handle. The price of the unit also seems reasonable, given the effectiveness of it and the costs of poor dental hygiene. It's also basically fun to use, and it leaves you with a feeling that you're taking great care of your dental health.
As you know, I was not paid to cover this product. I receive no commissions or affiliate fees if you purchase this product. I am simply bringing you this news and this product review because I'm impressed with this new toothbrushing technology and I think it could be of value to you. Check it out -- it's the HydraBrush, available at HydraBrush.com. I give it a five star recommendation.
