1) It distracts from my primary purpose of writing and sharing information about how people can improve their health and quality of life through nutrition, superfoods, exercise, natural health therapies, etc.
2) These freedom topics are already well covered by excellent writers on sites like www.CommonDreams.org, www.Truthout.org and even the Libertarian-oriented www.LewRockwell.com (a popular site among Noam Chomsky fans). Although my own views and writing are perhaps just as compelling, I believe my energy and efforts are more needed in the area of natural health, where there are not so many qualified writers to cover the issues.
Barring some major historical political event, I plan to avoid the temptation to comment on these topics and, instead, focus on bringing more positive, productive natural health information to as many people as possible.
In case you're wondering, no, I haven't been visited by men in black and threatened with a "tropical vacation" to Guantanamo Bay if I didn't censor my own work. Although our civil liberties are clearly under attack by our own government, we still apparently have the right to exercise Free Speech, because I know of no reports of Internet "freedom" writers being threatened, arrested or disappeared. As long as guys like Alex Jones (www.PrisonPlanet.com), Jeff Rense (www.Rense.com), G. Edward Griffin (www.RealityZone.com) and Paul Craig Roberts (www.vdare.com/roberts/index.htm) can exercise their free speech, we are apparently still enjoying the sacred protections of the First Amendment. (Protections that should never be taken for granted, by the way.)
I don't mean to imply that there is no current threat to our freedoms, because clearly there is, but I believe that other internet writers are covering the topic with sufficient expertise and passion, and that my own contributions in that arena are largely redundant.
Should things change in a significant way, I do of course reserve the right to rejoin the political commentary arena, but for now, I am cautiously optimistic that the American people will come to their senses, wake up from this six-year bad dream, and restore their rights, liberties and freedoms in the coming elections.
In the mean time, I shall continue to work on nutrition education programs that aim to improve the physical health and mental health of children, expectant mothers, senior citizens and people of all ages and nationalities. In a very real sense, one of the best ways to help us all find lasting peace and freedom is to promote health, nutrition and avoidance of prescription drugs and other toxic chemicals. The healthier we are as citizens of our respective nations, the more positive our decisions will be in all areas: political, ecological, sociological, etc.
Imagine, for example, how our own political circumstances might be different today if our political leaders weren't on prescription drugs and actually had balanced emotional health stemming from better nutrition. And imagine how differently the American voters might have voted if they, too, had more emotional stability and mental clarity -- effects that can be readily achieved through natural health and nutrition.
In other words, never underestimate the power of really good health information to transform society. Health and freedom go hand in hand. Good health among citizens naturally supports a freer society.
I thank you for your continued readership, and I look forward to bringing you honest, independent health news and information in the years ahead.
To your health,
- Mike Adams
