FoodScienceŽ of Vermont, a Division of FoodScience Corporation BACKGROUND & TIMELINE (press release)

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

FoodScienceŽ of Vermont nutritional supplements are sold exclusively to health food retailers nationwide; it is one of the divisions of the FoodScience Corporation. FoodScience was formed by Guido and Maria Orlandi, and their son Dom.

In the 1960s, Dom was using a nutrient called Dimethylglycine (DMG) with race and performance horses to increase stamina and endurance. Meanwhile, Maria had benign breast cancer tumors removed four different times. With Maria's history, doctors wanted to perform a mastectomy. On her son's advice, because he knew about DMG's ability to boost the immune system, Maria started taking the nutrient orally and found that the procedure was no longer needed. The Orlandis saw a niche and decided to market the product to benefit others.

Established in 1972 and incorporated in 1973, the company remains a family-owned business based in Vermont. Dom, who is Chairman of the Board, and his wife Claudia hold 100 percent equity in the company. Just like Guido and Maria, Dom and Claudia have made it their life's work to provide exceptional and innovative supplements for the health and well being of people and their pets. Continuing the family tradition is Dom and Claudia's son Dom, Jr., who serves as the company's president.

"Our company has a long history of providing quality, proven supplements for both humans and pets," said Dom Orlandi, Jr. "We are dedicated to providing products that ultimately improve the quality of life for companion animals, as well as leading the charge for consistent research, quality and integrity within our industry."

For more than 30 years, FoodScience has been a leader in nutritional research and product development by setting new standards of quality in the formulation of nutritional supplements for human and animals through the company's seven divisions; four that cater to human nutrition and three servicing the supplemental needs of animals.

To accomplish that, FoodScience employs top-ranking professionals including a full-time Ph.D. nutritional biochemist and licensed certified nutritionist. Dale R. Metz, chief executive officer, added, "We offer only the purest, most reliable products to meet the exacting standards and diverse needs of our customers. We also have an unparalleled commitment to research and development that enables us to offer a large number of original formulations, including DMG, for which we hold five U.S. patents."
