Brand-name guacomole dips have almost no avocado; made with hydrogenated oils instead

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

In the May 2003 issue of the Nutrition Action Healthletter, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) reviewed guacamole dips from Kraft, Dean's, Marie's, T. Marzetti's, and Herr's. CSPI discovered that they consist mainly of ingredients other than avocado. Kraft's product has less than 2% of avocado. Herr's label lists no avocado, only avocado powder.

Taking the place of avocado are artificial ingredients like hydrogenated oils and dyes such as yellow #5 and blue #1. Dean's, Marie's, T. Marzett's and Herr's labels show pictures of avocados on them which is also a deception. CSPI suggests that consumers choose products that have avocado listed as the first ingredient.
