Reversing diabetes

March 10th, 2016, by

Diabetes – types I and II – has long plagued humans and, because of our diets and lifestyles, the disease is becoming even more prevalent.

According to the 2014 National Diabetes Statistics Report, the latest data available, in 2012 some 29.1 million Americans, or 9.3 percent of the population, had one form of diabetes. Of those, 1.25 million adults and children had the worse form of it, type I. In all, 21 million diabetics had been diagnosed with the disease; 8.1 million had not.

Things have only gotten worse since that report was published. Just days ago the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that diabetes was on the rise, as was one of the principle causes of the disease, obesity.

Few of us understand this debilitating disease as well as Dr. Neal Barnard, MD, a practitioner, author and clinical researcher who was the founding president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, an international network of doctors, scientists and laypeople. And fortunately for us, Dr. Barnard is also one of more than two dozen health experts attending the Natural Medicine Summit to be held March 14–22, a free online symposium aimed presenting information that will make you feel younger, reverse the disease process and live better.

Dr. Barnard presents ‘Reversing Diabetes’ at the Natural Medicine Summit

His presentation, “Reversing Diabetes,” is an extension of research, clinical studies and authorship on the subject. In studies funded by the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Barnard has discovered that type II diabetes responds dramatically to a low-fat, vegetarian diet. Rather than just compensating for malfunctioning insulin like other treatment plans, Dr. Barnard’s program helps repair how the body uses insulin.

In his book, “Dr. Neal Barnard’s Program for Reversing Diabetes,” he explains fully what causes type II diabetes, how it affects the body and the results of his exhaustive research. The book even includes dozens of delicious recipes.

“If you have diabetes or are concerned about developing it, this program could change the course of your life. Although diabetes is a serious illness that all too often leads to heart problems, nerve damage, blindness, stroke, or kidney failure, it doesn’t have to be that way,” a review of the book notes.

His program “is based on a series of research studies” that he and colleagues carried out over the years, the review says. “Published in the August 2006 issue of Diabetes Care, that study found Dr. Barnard’s program to be three times more effective than the American Diabetes Association dietary guidelines at controlling blood sugar,” it continued.

In addition to Dr. Barnard’s presentation, others will include how to help make your body produce its own internal medicines; how Mother Nature provides “medicine” of her own, naturally; which 7 foods you should drop so you lose 7 pounds in 7 days; and much more.
