(NaturalNews) Most people working in the
alternative health industry are genuinely striving to provide exactly that: an alternative to the dubious practices and ineffective (and usually dangerous) "cures" offered by the
mainstream medical establishment.
But even within the
alternative health community, there are those whose actions are questionable. Sometimes, once-legitimate companies or individuals succumb to the temptation to place the pursuit of profits over maintaining integrity, or they simply drift off course for other reasons.
Sadly, one (or perhaps both) of those scenarios seems to be the case regarding the company known as HealthForce Nutritionals, which bills itself as a "20+ year old raw, vegan, hard-core superfood company specializing in cleansing, detoxification and optimum health."
In this article I won't address the quality of HealthForce products or whether or not they are of value to consumers, but simply the fact that there seems to have been some deception on the part of the company's current management regarding the unfortunate death of its founder, Jameth Sheridan, earlier this year.
Chronicle of a death untold
Jameth Sheridan was a beloved, and by nearly all accounts, respected member of the
alternative health community. He died March 14, 2016, and his passage is the main subject of this article, because that's when things seem to have gone awry with HealthForce. Or perhaps things went sideways even earlier, after he left his own company to pursue "his dream of living off the land and developing farming methods to help save the world," (according to the memorial announcement that was
finally posted by
HealthForce some six months after his death).
And that's the big question: Why did the current management of HealthForce wait so long to inform the public and his devoted followers of his demise?
Only they know the real answer to that question, but what's really shocking is that the announcement of his
death seems to have only been released after Mike Adams, the Health Ranger and founder/editor of
Natural News, made inquiries into the matter.
In fact, it was only after Mike Adams obtained and subsequently shared a copy of Sheridan's official death certificate with HealthForce, that the company finally admitted that he had indeed passed away.
So why the secrecy? Statements from HealthForce claim that the company was unaware of Sheridan's death and that they "didn't get the
news or the full story until now."
While that scenario may be possible, it seems rather unlikely. In the memorial announcement, the reason given for the company's lack of knowledge regarding the death was that Sheridan's wife "couldn't face the devastation of even discussing it with her own friends and family, let alone those of us still running HealthForce after they had moved on."
The importance of 'integrity, honesty and transparency' in the alternative health community
The aim is not to accuse Sheridan's wife of any wrongdoing – and certainly she must have been genuinely grief-stricken at his passing – but details that Mike Adams has uncovered regarding the whole affair indicate that the company was indeed aware of Sheridan's death before (and perhaps long before) they publicly announced it.
In Adams's own words:
"It's just sad that his own friends and family members covered up his death for six months to keep selling products for profit, denying their own customers their chance to honor his passing. The deliberate lack of transparency you are witnessing here is unprecedented and inexcusable for a company that claimed to uphold the highest standards of integrity, honesty and transparency. Any honest, trustworthy company should be open with their customers and acknowledge critical events such as the death of their founder and formulator."
Sad, indeed.
We mourn the passing of
Jameth Sheridan, and hope that there is a lesson to be learned from the circumstances surrounding his death. For the alternative health community to remain vital, relevant and unified, it is crucial (as Adams wrote) that it continues to "uphold the highest standards of integrity, honesty and transparency."
Anything less is unacceptable.
